Im building a frame for my 30 Dodge Bros body i bought a few weeks ago and i was wondering how i should go about this... complete frame from 2 X 3 tubing or... a combination of 2 X 3 and 2 X 4. Any advice/help will be greatly appreciated !! Thanks ! It will also be Z'd front and rear
2 x 4 Tubing and you can take a slice out of it horizontally so that it tapers up front and out back. But I am no expert.
I built a frame for my buddy's tub body, its 2x4 tapered front rails 2x3 under the body. From the side, the body appears to be channeled 1". Hope this helps.
What body are you talking about? 2door Sedan Coupe 4dr Sedan Pickup Roadster Cabriolet Touring Car Fendered or fenderless? Chopped or channeled or both? The frame may be designed differently for any and all of them depending on the answer to the last 2.
I'll be building my own frame very soon for a T coupe....was going to use 2x4, but after looking at other's builds of similar cars, will most likely use 2x3. Either way would be adequate. Will be splicing a Model A front half to it, a gradual sweep from firewall forward, and @ 8" Z in the rear.
If its fenderless why not wedge cut the front rails right in front of the firewall and behind the front crossmember, that will look alot better than a Z frame in the front
Here's one I built out of 2x4 tubing. It had to be z'd for low ride height. Was built for a truck and rear z does not show.Frt was angled and looks ok.Nothing fancy but did the job fine. Mike
