need help with a fastener idea

    adding a stock hood top on my 29 A sedan hot rod(no sides) looking for fastener ideas. wanting to make it look like something you would have seen back in the 50's. looked at dzus, they look too new for the look i am trying for. thanks

    The countersunk type that mount flush would be the best choice. The Kurtis Kraft midgets had Dzus fastners in 1945.

    I'd look into making two spring loaded rods that would replace the top to side hinge rod. Have them slide into a tube welded to the cowl and radiator shell.

    i didn`t know dzus` were that old .

    i like the look of a leather strap with the cool looking spring at the bottom.

    Dzus fastaners were invented in the 1930's ........ so they ARE period correct for what your doing.

    Some on the newer styles might not be what your looking for though.....

    I'd say go with the straps if you're not gonna run hood sides.
