Got nothilike that anymore around here, used to be a ****load when i was a kid. Recently i went with a friend to get a garage furnace for him. In the shed where the furnace was stored was a '40 ford coupe sitting on a "47 chevy frame, still savable, but the owner was gonna fix it up soon; it's still there. I went to buy a model A tailgate a few years ago and the guy that had it always has a few old thing around. We got to talking and it seems we had a mutual friends; that was enough for him to take me to the upstairs area of his barn. The upper area was FULL of auto related stuff. A**** other things was about 60 of those huge multi bubble looking gaspump globes, all gl*** and all real......

I know of 2 hidden treasures.
One is a 40 Ford coupe in a back yard buried in a foot of dirt. Tree growing right next to it has creased the front fender. Friend who found it & bought it should be pulling it out anytime. I need to call him for a follow-up.

    But the one I'd want.....
Friend of mine lives near the beach in OC. They have had an ongoing battle & lawsuits w/ the next door neighbor who's trees have uprooted their house-like 5 times now. She's a nut case & a recluse & refuses to trim the trees. Garage is never opened. One day- I was over there visiting & the lady's daughter was there bringing groceries & opened the garage door. In the right corner is a car covered by a bunch of blankets & sheets. I asked what it was & she wasn't sure but it was her dad's car from years ago. He died in the 60's. Says it was expensive when he bought it & they only drove it to special places- like out to dinner. Never on a road trip. I asked if I could peek.
I walked over to the driver door side & parted the sheets & saw wood on the door. My heart raced & I pulled it back some more.
    OMG!!!!!
    It's a 1948 Town & Country ragtop woodie!
Paint is pristine (dark color, looks green to me)- just needs buffed out. Top looks like new, wood is fantastic but the grabber? There's 18,000 miles on the odo!
I've been trying to buy it for years. Lady says she will die with it in the garage (didn't help my friends are the one's suing her)
Daughter knows I want it but I'd bet this will set me back some big coin when it does happen.

few years ago was walking around the family farm in Missouri and found about 20 model a and ts roadsters etc
still need to get back out there and snag some of that stuff

  4. A guy around the corner from my old house in San Francisco has a ba*****t garage stuffed with 2 55 Nomads and at least one hard top Belaire. Another guy way out on Bush Street has a garage stuffed with old Thunderbirds. San Francisco used to be a great place for finding old cars hidden garages but the big turnover in real estate in the last 15 years has thinned this out. There are still some though.

There is a 92 Camry parked in a shed, down the street from me. They won't sell it, says they're gonna make a hot rod out of it some day.

There is a older guy near my house that has a 30's Dodge Coupe that is rust free but dis***embled, he also has a 36 Ford that is restored and a 57 Chevy BelAir. I drive by the place everyday and remember as a kid seeing these cars in the barns. Now 20 some years later they are still there.....What a shame. He won't sell any of them.

  8. I know of a 36 Ford coupe in an old guys garage that is pristine, hasn't moved in as long as I can remember and he won't let it go. Rats!

I know where there's a Model A 5 window body hanging from the rafters of an old barn down in Charlotte Hall, MD. The frame is sitting outside, has been for as long as I can remember. When the guy bought the car years ago it was an older resto, and he pulled it all apart to freshen it up and paint it, but he never got around to finishing it. He p***ed away a few years ago. I've tried to buy it but the family won't part with it.

Took some back roads coming home from work one day, saw an early '60s Cadillac sedan in this guy's yard for sale so I stopped in to take a look. The fella comes out of the house and we start talking cars, and he tells me go take a look in his backyard, which has a 10 foot tall wooden privacy fence around it. A****st other things, he has a solid, running '59 Ford 2 door HT, an early '50s Hudson sedan, and a progression of Chrysler Imperials from '57 through '65. There were some other things that I couldn't remember, but the one I fell in love with was a '65 Chrysler Imperial Crown Coupe. I don't recall ever seeing another, and it's got some neat lines. The car is a solid driver, just needs a little cleaning up. I tried to talk him out of it, but he wouldn't budge. I did leave my number in case he changed his mind, but yet to hear anything.

What treasures hidden near by........well, old man Smith still has his 56 t bird and 62 vette he's had since new. Last time I looked the all original 37 ford 2dr sedan w 18,000mi on it was still sitting inside the old Hope machine shop building. I can show you more "restored" model A's than you'd ever care to look at (hell im sick of 'em). I doubt my ole buddy Gene will ever get rid of his 36 fiat topolino or the 23 t his son built years ago. I still need to go deal with the people that have the 59 Caddy sittin in their yard (no hurry though, its been there 20+ years). If we're talking junkyards then we cant leave out 'Ole Buddys place, not only does ole buddy have the cars but a small cemetary in the woods to go along with 'em (one headstone dated 1789..not a typo). We can go dig through Robins junk too and then look at his restored collection. We'll head out to Dukes and see if we can talk him outta his 59 Chevy sedan delivery. My German connection over in Texarkana can hook us up out at his yard (40s, 50s , and 60s). Dont even get me started about what we can go see in Texarkana, I can type ALL day. You guys really should come down south sometime....

Recently moved to Boise Idaho area, Nampa specifically. I went out to the old state penitentery which is now a couple of museums. One is the Idaho Transportation Museum. I found an old Buick, 55 or 56, and Old Studebaker, in the back of the pic, and a "Leata" whatever that is!

I've also noticed more 1956 Ford F100 with in my 30 min. commute than anywere I've ever lived!

There was a 50 Merc I saw a few miles from my apartment. Started talking to the owner's neighbor-"You should see the rest of his collection"

So the neighbors talk and I get a tour of this guy's 2 story garage. Late 50s Tbird pedal car sitting outside the garage door. Inside he had a bunch of pictures and trophys from over the years including a big picture of the wall from Bonneville in the 50s or 60s. Speed parts all over the place; there was a 40ish Ford with a 331 Caddie in it, checkered engine bay.
I was in heaven for the hour or two I was there. He made it obvious he didn't want anyone else to hear about it and wouldn't do any more tours. I can't remember where exactly it was but I'm trying like hell to remember.

    I grew up within a mile of a 36 dodge driver(perfect), a 30 chevy sedan driver, and a 50's plymouth.

  16. My buddy managed to add a '36 3-window to his pile, that someone had in a backyard not that far away. The kicker is someone else bought it before him, then decided it was too much work to go get, and sold it to my buddy for a couple hundred bucks profit, in less than 6 hours.

at work here a few years ago from where im at right now i could of hit '3' different 32 ford 2 door sedans with a rock shot from a wrist rocket.
2 nice complete cars & the third is a nice body on a buick frame.
one was ours now put away. the other was across the street now undergoing a resto somewhere that has now come to a hault & the third is in a shed up the street.
--------------- in the future i will probably own all 3. (distant future that is!) but i will store them under my lock & key so im sure they will never leave. :D

    otherwise this town is DEAD!
ONE guy started buying every 32 33 34 ford in the early 60s he could get his hands on. for years he hunted every early ford down any condition any bod style any part & he would not sleep until he owned that car & he sold them & shipped them out as fast as he got them. he had lots & lots of them now he has none!
he loved to hear people say the car WAS NOT for sale then he went after that car all the more!

I used to shoot pictures for Auto Trader here in Arizona and I know TONS of storage yards with old cars just sitting in them. I could point out at least 100 from the 20's -the 1970's

There isn't enough server space for me to list all of the vitage stuff. Plus all the one's from when I lived in WV,TN,KY,Coastal SC, and western NC.

I just love to ride around in the most rural of areas and look. But not right now with gas prices way up there, and business not looking so good.

I have a widowed lady across the stret from me and she has a 30 model a coupe that has been in her garage for 27 years that I know of. It was her husbands car and I had talked to him before he past away and he told me that his grandfather had bought it new. It is all there and just needs some TLC. I have asked her about it and she doesn't want to sell it , says maybe someday one of her kids will want it. MAYBE she will adopt me ........

I know a farmer just a 1/4 mile from my house who has a 1935 Auburn 2 door. It looks as if it may be a convertible and it looks great! The car is inside an old one room house that is keeping it dry and sun free. I took some quick pics but its wedged in there so tight I couldnt get many good pics. It has a two speed rearend and auxillary front lights. Very cool.

  30. I was just thinking about this guy the other day ( if it's the same guy). When I was a little kid ( mid to late 1970's) my Dad use to take me with him to this place to buy parts off of this old man for the '29 sedan he was restoring. The place was freaking amazing! I remember it vividly. Big barn in the back yard...everything was shelved, tagged, he knew exactly what he had and which shelf it was on in the loft. The ground floor was packed with original cars... I figured it was all long gone. My Pop died a couple of years ago and his memories of the location were long gone....I do remember the old man's name though, but I'll never tell.
