Hi, I'm new to the forums. Actually, this is the first forum that I have ever joined. I have been reading for a while now, always trying to learn something new(to me) about something old. I live in Anderson, Indiana and own a 41 Ford Bus. Coupe. I've had the car for a little over 2 years now, and have made several changes to it. Up until the last change, I've only had it off the road for no more than a week or so at a time. It's been on jackstands for over 3 months now with the latest project on it. I'm installing a mustang II front suspension. The car had a mid 90's mustang suspension in it when I bought it, yes the one with struts. While it drove very well, the suspension was just too wide for the car and really presents problems with tire sizes and lowering the front to a decent stance. I pulled the motor and doghouse a few months ago and, after debating over which route to take to correct the problem, finally decided on replacing the entire suspension. Should be fun, biggest garage project that I have attempted yet. Nice to meet you all.

Hope the pictures went through. The one with the mag wheels is when I first bought the car. It now has steelies on it. Thought I would throw a picture in of the suspension with the doghouse removed. I personally have never seen struts on a hot rod, this is a first for me. Too bad it's too wide, it drives really well.

Hey James welcome to the hamb.

I owned a 41 b coupe for about 10 years and really enjoyed cruising around with the old flathead purring alone. It had 89,000 miles on it when I drug the car out of the bush. Within a few months I had the original engine running and drove the car around the block, bullet holes in the glass and all.

    Sure miss that car.

James, saw your Feb. post about front suspension swap, wondered what you had figured out. I recently picked up a stocker that I want to make into a daily driver, but all the Must II set ups that I have seen are too wide. 41's seem to have a narrower fender than the earlier and later Fords, from what I have gathered. I want about 1 1/2" to to tire from the inside of the fender lip and want to run a wheel with about 3" backspace. TCI has one that is supposedly 56.5" hub to hub, so I think that this could be narrowed 2" in the center of the crossmember, shorten the rack the same in the center of the tube, shorten each end of the rack's gears 1 ". The frame would have to modified to fit the crossmember, but hey, were hotrodders, right? The crossmember might possibly raised up into the frame an inch to drop the stance. I need to come down 3" from stock. I don't care for dropped spindles, as it puts the crossmember closer to the ground. Personal opinion. If I mount the engine, sm. Ford, at the same time, clearances can be maintained. Any thoughts? I like youre '41, it will look great when you get it down. I'm a '32 and '34 guy, this is my first fat fendered rig. Bob
