i need some advice on exhaust and master cylinder clearence, the thing is that i wanna use the stock 36 brake pedal under the floor, i also wanted run the exhaust inside the frame, but there dosen't seem to be enough room, so i decided to run the exhaust under the frame and will probably notch the crossmembers 1" to 1 1/2" to gain extra ground clearence, i'm at about 6" without the exhaust. but even doing that the master cylinder will still be pretty close to the exaust. how close i can run my master cylinder to my exhaust? here's a pic of the frame with the engine and ******.

    thanx, sickboy

I had about the same clearance in my '32 3 window. Exhaust was about 5" away from the m/c. When the exhaust was painted black, no prob. But when I had it aluma coated, it radiate more heat. I ended up wrapping the m/c with a starter heat shield because it was boiling the brake fluid.

i think i might be closer than 5", but i don't plan on aluma coating the exhaust though, i guess with the heat sheild it could work then, did you use a wrap heat shield or a plate type?

I've got late models with insane underhood temps and a MC less than 2 inches from the exhaust. They have heat shields and no issues.

    Good luck
