Im a young 40 years old and have been building since the mid 70's.
I got out of it from 86ish to 2003 but I am back and building again.

I built a cool junkyard diorama that I am yearning to finish. Here it is. Enjoy.

The fence Im built on half the groundwork.
I even used my very own last Name on the sign LOL.

I made the sign in Photoshop 7.0 in a 600 dpi .jpg format.
I then printed it on Kodak high gloss photo paper complete with a
    b*** wood frame.

This sign will be TRASHED when Im done. the fence came out "OK" I guess, for my first one it was tough, took me 2.5 hours to make 16 inches?

Im going to dirty the fence up and hang junk on it and what not. It will be sweet.

Heres some more shots of the fence work and signage.

Above is some good shots of the Beware Of Dog, Entrance and Tresp***ing signs. I made these in Photoshop 8.0.

Heres the 1st car in my junkyard.
    A 67 GTX by Revell.
I dremeled off the front drivers fender and door as well as the trunk (Which will be getting custom made hinges and it will be posed open).
Im really rusting this one out bad!! Its been here forever! LOL!
Its also my first vinyl top attempt too.
    What do you think?
    This shot is my favorite.

Heres another angle of the other GTX which now sports a b***wood hood prop, neatly splintered too!

This is tough decision making as far as the layout of the cars and parts go. Please note the cars are NOT finished yet.

What do you think of the cars so far?
    Believeable?
The next car is an MPC Vintage 1985 "Royal Knight" 1/24 scale El Camino.

So what's the big deal? All of the models I used to build came out looking just like those.:D

Seriously though, nice eye for detail.

I build models also...however not cars, but model trains. My model railroad was featured in Model Railroader magazine last October. Here's a couple pics:

Looks like how actual cars and parts end up looking up here in the northeast; rusty and dirty!

Drill some stuff out: Ports of those exhaust manifolds, loose wheel lug nut holes, center hole on that air cleaner, carb venturis, the intake manifold plenum, etc.

    Otherwise excellent.

  21. damn nice work...trick Ive used before on beater cars...shave the tread down sometimes un even to show outa line front end, small but looks right.....now I gotta look up the word rust...damn I love arizona

Well, Ill be damned! I thought Gary Nichols and I were the only other train modelers on the HAMB. Good to find there are others. I model in the large 1:20 scale, and run my stuff in the back yard. All my models represent depression era Colorado narrow gauge. My railroad has been featured in Garden Railways magazine a few times.

Sorry, didn't mean to hyjack the thread.

Ha ha the first couple of pics look just like the rust bucket they dug up in Oklahoma. Wrong year of course!

  24. That is really killer work! Would love to see someone with similar skills/dedication do this with Fairlanes/Galaxies.
.....but that would be pretty hard to come by, I would guess.

Dean is right... and I suspect that many rodders got their start slapping AMT 3n1 car kits together. Dean and I work in large scale, 1:20 mostly, and have nearly identical themes. We also have many mutual friends in the large scale / garden railroading community. I know at least one other large scale model train guy on the HAMB... Dana pipe in any time. You can see some of my models, both trains and cars here... Gary

There maybe more then care to say they play with trains, like Gary,Dean & me !!;)
Tinker toys to Lincon Logs,on to Erecktor sets and then toy trains and model car, tell we start building full size car,yup seems like the way of old,Ha!:D
    I retired from the G gage train biz a few years back,but my old biz site is still up,even though the spamers have screwed up some of it,there is a lot of photos of my models on the site,and some get ideas off it,so it's still there;
