I just bought a 250 Straight six and was told the motorcame out of a late 70's model camaro. I have the casting number but am having a hard time finding the year of the motor. Any help?

    L 6 8 could be December 6, 1968 or 1978.

don't see that casting number anywhere...

Does it have the intake and head as one casting?

does it say "HECHO EN MEXICO" or CANADA on it anywhere?

I thought maybe it might be in the Hollander Interchange. I can find #3921967,#3921968 but no 3921969. The first two blocks were used up till '77. From '77 all it gives is the model of car or truck the block was used in. It was definitely quite extensive and from '77 to '84. Over 14 different vehicles. So your L68 may signify 1978

  7. Is there a serial number on it? By '78 it should have the full VIN of the car it came out of stamped on somewhere. That aught to tell what year it is.
