What did you have to start with for your last rod?

So what did you latest hot rod begin with?

I started with a nag of a '41 pickup that had been sitting in a farmers field since he parked it in '58. Took me years to get him to sell it to me, but he finally did when he got sick of people stealing parts off of it.

What did you start off with?

If you look close on the lower left...you can see a rusty looking black pipe. That was the exhaust stack, left wide open in the west texas weather for 40 plus years. If went down and attached to a "can" that attached to the exhaust manifold. Well on each side of the block there was an exhaust valve open which allowed:eek::eek::eek::eek:

    Water dirt, etc....

But bored .060" they turned out perfect.

I started with a set of 33 Chev headlights, a Sunday afternoon bargain that was too cheap to p*** up. That was 10 years ago. Fast forward, today my 26 modified is nearing the roller stage. I hope to have it ready for the road late next spring.

My car started as a $100 dollar derelict Ford Granada. Netted a good 8 inch rear end, C-4 ****** & drive shaft. Everything else I junked. Gotta start somewhere, huh?

Started with a '41 big farm truck. $300 for the whole thing, i took the cab and hood gave the rest away. The cab was junk, replaced more metal than i saved. Then I bought $75 woth of "s****" ( my brother worked at the fab shop where the tube came from) square tubing for the frame, I was then commited.

I started with a free cowl, and it's the most expensive free thing I've ever had.

All eight sleeves. Heads and block uncracked and saved all eight rods and crank. Very happy about that.

I have a '32 heavy axle and '32 rails, and have to get the frame put together before I do anymore to the body.
