i started with a 4" drop axle i found behind my dads shop, and then i bought a $500 custom frame. then i had to find a cab.

  4. The '40 Standard Coupe was really in great shape. Two small dents in the tail pan below the trunk, two small rust hole where moisture was trapped by the rear fenders, and one credit card sized hole in the firewall which appeared to be cut with a wood chisel. Fenders needed a little m***aging but overall condition was great, never hit.

    Before and after.......

I started my 50 F-1 with a lower p***enger fender I found at Chickasha for $5.00. As someone else said, it turned out to be much more expensive.

I bought this about 20 years ago at a swap meet for 10.00.

It is the start of a 2 seat late 20's/early 30's race car style roadster. Plans call for a 28 or so Chev ch***is with some sort of inline engine and a boat tail style rear deck.

Started with a grill shell added 1 million $ and ended up with the red thing, love the blue wheels huh, need 1 more million dollars to finish. Looks like I need to have gl***, interior and exhaust and oh well I'll admit it, wheels/tires!

Damn, just when I start getting discouraged I look this thread over and it amazes me what some of you guys have had to start out with to build some really great cars!

Lets keep this thread going - anybody else out there want to show us what you started with/what you have now?

Gonna start next week-end. finish the floors and door bottoms, put in about 100' of 1"sq tube. fill the roof, chopit, quad lights next to the grill, Olds subframe and Olds driveline. 50's Olds dash. I got some Remington L-78 4" WWW's at Skips sunday. I've got an old looped solid nerf bar for the rear. Fun-fun-fun.

I found an after market tube axle at a swap meet about 12 years ago. I had a pretty nice T-Bucket about 30 years ago that was a lot of fun. After looking at he axle in the garage for about 5 years, I decided that a "T-Tub" would be the right way to go (you can take more friends with you), so now I have a roller with a mocked up flathead that I'm trying to get back to (the economy has really screwed me up!). The funny thing is that when I look at the roller, it sits too high in front. Probably gonna' have to get rid of the axle that's on it and get a dropped "I"-beam.

    First 2 pics are before.
I have completed the ch***is and drive train. Cut off the rear of the frame and put on a rack for the beer cooler. Shortened wheel base, sectioned the body just back of the 2 pillar and channeled the body 5 inches.

Am driving it now with 292 Chevy motor. I backed up the wood wheels with quarter inch plate cut on water jet. Finally got the wheels finished and painted with the gray/platinum Acrilic. The rear tires are on Fedex as I write this, they are 650x20 to fill that rear fender a bit more.

It's a helluva lot of fun! I have trouble finding time to work on the things that need to be done, like finishing up with replacing the wood with square steel tube and completing the interior for gl*** and upholstering. Finally got the floorboards back in, ch***is is complete. Someday I'll upgrade the 292 with cam and lump port head, 4 0r 5 speed and higher ratio diff. make it a real tire burner.
