Yeah , I will have to do that but I'm waiting till I get the right distributor before I do that. A vertex mag would be nice but they're hard to find for a six.....well not too hard if you have big dollars....I'm thrifty!

I actually had to add a 1/4" plate behind the cover so I had enough thickness to mill without having a hole in the cover

Fuel rail? Those have got to be mechanical injectors. Very nice work. My Kinslers have mechanical couplings for the shafts that allow you to adjust each pair indepentaly. Is that what you are going to do?

Ya know, I hate guys like Jethro cuz his fabrication skills make mine look like a kindergartner's scribblings...I should be so talented...

As a matter of fact , that's what I'm doing today. I made one coupler with an arm to operate the throttle and the second one will be a simple coupler. I turned the ends of the shafts down slightly and put a knurl on the ends so the shafts will grip the coupler and not slip when tightened.

It's a TCI setup, but I think it was for a 32. I had to make my frame mounts and I used the TCI catalogue for dimensions ....sort of.

I was wondering how you were coming along. Looks like you're doing great!

    Thats beautiful, man!

You decide on a ECM yet? Been motoring the Burb around on the megasquirt just fine.

Been thinkin about getting a megasquirt kit this winter to solder together. GMC Bubba on here says he uses factory GM ecm's with good results...cheaper too!
Not quite there yet, need to get the engine rebuilt first....Just money that's all!

I looked into GM ecms, but no real easy way to mount a crank trigger wheel. I'd like to know what you find out on that. I found no room behind the balancer.

    Nice work!
I will be first in line if you want to sell one those side covers for a 235. Charlie at Vintage Speed has been threating for awhile, but he's been a no-show.
The only thing that has always bugged me about Hilborn's is the squashed velocity stacks... Cant them and make the bells big and beautiful like they should be.

OK, here's where I am today...I got some advice from GMC Bubba(Thanks!) to put in the injector bungs in the bottom of the runners. I machined some weatherhead br*** fittings to hold both ends of the injector . I'll have to make some kind of "tie bar" to hold them secure to the manifold. I machined a fuel block, I am planning on either AN flex lines or possibly stainless hardlines ....not sure which at the moment. I made up a shaft coupler and a crank arm that is also a shaft coupler. And finally a zippy bellcrank gizmo to make things go in the right direction.

    Jethro,
You might want to think about making a vacuum manifold just like fuel block (with smaller holes ) for your MAP sensor. It will make for better vacuum readings. Single lines tend to confuse the ECU due to pulsations.

I wish all you really smart guy's out there would put a TECH together telling this dummy how and what to use to make your own home made electronic FI. I always wanted to do this but didn't want to get LOST on the computer side. I thought about just using a ECM from a 90 IROC or something like that? Anyone willing to School this Dummy? I actually wanted to change 3-2's to FI, keep the look with fewer carb related problems.

Okay, that's just *****in, all the way around.

Are you thinking of dividing the ports in the 250 head, or lump ports or ??? Or is it a secret (DOH)?

If you wanted to put a trigger on the crank, couldn't you sandwich it between the flywheel / flexplate and the crank (thereby hiding it as well)?

i agree. i have a megasquirt system, and the MAP readings are super sensitive. i talked to hilborn about how to adapt a vintage manifold, and they also said that tying together vacuum lines into a manifold is the way to go.

  23. awesome work indeed ! take a short break and go have a sit down and cold brew by the cement pond.

I didn't mention that I also did that. I welded threaded bungs underneath the injector bungs and I'll tie them together with br*** fittings and rubber line.

Did you kake everything yourself or adapt some Hilborn units? That is really sweet! Will it be mechanical or electronic injection! Bill

Taking Notes for myself here... im a chevy 6 guy, i love em, have had em in 2 cars.

id live to put a hilborn or derivitive on the 292 in my T... im a machinist by trade, but dont have a lathe or mill to use on my own time, and where i work seriously frowns on government projects at work... even on my own time.

Guys just a note on the crank trigger issue mentioned .
The crank signal ( crank trigger) can come from anywhere as long as the sequence is correct. Example : The gm 4.3 v6 uses the distributor signal as a crank signal.
Doesnt have to be a actual crank sensor....You could use any magnetic pulse set up

If done though, wouldn't you have to tie the cam and crank sensor wiring together? The whole point of a cam sensor is to identify which cyl is #1 for port injection.
