64 Impala is comming along and I just had the underbody taken down to bare metal with the intention of spraying bed liner on. I've heard that's great protection that won't come off and quiets the car down. Is the bed liner that's available at Walmart in the spray cans OK? Or is there somthing else anyone out there would recomend?

    Thanks!

Rhino is good. As well as Herc-u-liner.

If Wally World sells it then there has to be something better.

First, put something on the bare steel to protect it from rusting. A good rust preventative is the best bet, IMHO. I use POR-15 or Master Series. THEN put on the bedliner. Anything in a spray can, or in ONE can isn't very good. I tried the Duplicolor stuff that Pep Boys carried. ****S! Use a good brand, Rhino, Southern Urethanes, Gator, that comes in 2 parts, the urethane, and a hardener. Usually sprays with an undercoat gun. That's the better way to go. I use it on undercarriages on REAL drivers, inside jeeps, underneath most wheel wells, even to seal up troublesome firewalls, and inside trunks, for extra protection.

I used Herculiner inside my Jeep, works great, Its about $100 for a gallon at pepboys I think, and that was enough to do 2 coats inside the Jeep. wroks good, but probably not as durable as Rhino lining or Line-X or any of the other proffesionally sprayed ones.

the spray at walmart is thin stuff. made by duplicolor. it's supposed to only be used in combination with the roll on version of the product. the roll on gives you thickness and strength and the spray covers what the roller and the brush can't get you. i used it in the trunk of my 65 chevy, seems really strong. probably not as good as the real stuff of course, but for what i used it for, i think it works great.

I have a LINE-X bed in my late-model Dakota. It is virtually indestructable. I've dropped and slid engines, heads, refridgerators, etc, etc across the bed without any damage to the surface at all.

It is more expensive that the other products, but if you want the best, it's the way to go. It might be overkill for a trunk.
