Barbequed parts!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rubberrodder, Oct 25, 2008.

  1. Finally got around to doing the valve cover gaskets on my early hemi. I also found out I was out of degreaser. No engine bright,no brake clean,no simple green,NOTHIN'! Then I remembered that most machine shops now use gas fired ovens to "bake" engine blocks clean. I dont care if the wife is out of town or not, I wasnt going to try this with her brand new stove! Hmmm, what to do? How about the GAS BBQ? Well it works like a charm for small greasey parts! I put them in a half hour ago on high. I just checked them to see how they were doing. All I gotta do is dust off the ash and they are ready to prime and paint!
    Barbeque Hemi parts...m,m,m,m,m, tasty!

Maybe use 220 in the shop and a freebie electric Craigslist oven? Hell, maybe a couple welded together?

You must live pretty far from the nearest store!

Your next hamburger is gonna have that special 10W40 seasoning.

Food might be ok, but maybe bring your own BBQ.

Just don't try to de-grease anything in the dish washer.
It turns the White plastic walls Navy Ship Gray.

I dont know if I'd sign up right away...
Wouldn't warping be a big issue on thinner parts?

You you can buy the rest of your barbequed parts at our
local AUTOZONE parts store, it burned a couple of nights ago !!!!
Seriously though , you might research the temps some, don't want
change the metal make-up . Otherwise, sounds like it will work !!!!

$100 bucks! you can find them free on craigslist all day long and the ones i have gotten just needed the burners blown out because of rust and they worked great. $6 can of black high heat for stoves and mine look great. even added side burners for free.
