when i chopped my 54 chevy i destroyed my vin tag that was on the door frame so its not like i can even re rivet it on or anyting anyone have this problem before can i get a repro of it if i knwo the number thanks
some states will issue a new tag, but the number won't match and the ***le will have to be re-issued I found a guy that will do me a tag for $15...I think I found him in the Misc. Cl***ifieds. Does not look original, but does it matter?
that could prove to be fun..depending on the person you deal with at your local DMV did you keep the remains of the original tag?
tell the DMV you bought it from a non-***le State, such as Alabama or New Jersey. If you have the original engine, the serial number on the engine is likely the VIN
nope, I've always treated VIN tags with the respect they deserve. Sorry I can't help. You're probably going to have a lot of fun at DMV. Put a lawyer on retainer.
CT does not require a ***le on oldies. IF that vin tag on a 54 chevy is like my friends 48, it was actually a body number. CT inspectors at the Willimantic office allowed him to use the motor number on his stock 48. It seems to depend on who looks at it and if the planets are aligned .......OR....some smog garages in CT do VIN checks on old cars....find a friendly one
I'm with Squirrel...why the hell would you cut a a VIN plate? I still have the original for my 49, it was previously abused and mistreated by the previous owner BUT I had the original ***le...I recently got a repop VIN plate and had the VIN restamped in it...BUT still kept the original just in case, even though its a hunk of twisted **** (still readable though)
If you have the # then go thru a place like ITS,ITS-***les.com. for the relative cost, less than $200 you get a registration that is fully transferable to you.
54 has no vin on the frame 55 was the first year.work with your mvd is the best.gameplaying will just make it worse.
