It had been about 3 years since my last project, took some pieces in to get chromed, the price seems like it tripled, I suppose its do to copper prices being so high- that or my chrome guy doesnt like me anymore. Anyone else notice? What gives?

That and the fact that the government has put high disposal fees on the chemicals used in chroming and because they are toxic and harmful to the environment. Go trees, haha, that's why most newer cars have that fake plastic-e chrome stuff.

do what alot of So Cal Lowrider guys do take your stuff to Tijuana. It's not because of the price of copper because the price for recycled copper has dropped by about half

I was just shopping chrome prices and, though they were higher than five years ago, they were reasonable. Quotes were about $250-$300 for a bumper, $100 per valve cover(Caddy), and $200 per Wishbone. This is from a place from which I've seen good work.

  6. last january someone told me i could get my bumpers straightened and chromed for about 80 dollars down in guadalajara,i am going down there in about 3 weeks,i'll find out,i hope with the economy going all fd up did change...

I was talking to Bob at Verne's when I did some parts for my 'bird and he said the reason for the jump in price is due to EPA regs and the manner in which they have to handle/dispose of the materials used in the process. At least that's the case here in CA.

here's a guy i used to chrome my bumpers on my Buick they came out pretty good i think he did the the front and back for like 250 or less i cant remember. but he was a hell of alot cheaper then the rest of the shops he even straightened them for that price. i don't know if you want trophy winning chrome or just something that looks good for the street. here's is # and some pics of his work on mine. this was good for this car cause it's going up for sale.
