Greetings, my name is Mike and I am an alcoholic. ( Aw shit, that's the other board). Nevermind, my name is Mike and I am an incurable motorhead. I'm just over 49 years old, but under 51, have been a heavy truck mechanic and truck driver most of my life. I'm single, due to the court system, and have been a rod and custom freak all my life. Customs have always been my passion, even when they lost popularity and the muscle cars ruled. Even on my first car on the road, a 1965 Impala, I shaved the tail lights and put them in the chrome strip above the bumper, modified the grill and other items. I have had quite a few rides, mostly in the custom (mild) and truck catigories. My current daily driver is a 1961 Chevy pickup with 110,000 on the stock 235 and 3-on-the-tree. Also have a 1950 Studebaker multi-door and a 1923 Ford that is a survivor. Just sold my 1960 Desoto to buy the Ford, my first rod. I've been around this board for quite some time, check the date of reg., and have gotten a lot of good information from the people on here. I have also spit my shre of beverages on the screen from some of the comments on here also. Don't know how much I can contribute to the masses here, but I will try. And I know how you all want pictures! Almost forgot, I'm from Lancaster NY just outside Buffalo. (Yes that was my Stude at the Speedway last week.) Mike My daily, summer or winter Gone but not forgotten
Like those ride's! The early '60's Chev truck's are really growing on me. Heavy Truck repair! That's a hardcore work! I've lent a hand for a friend a time or three doing that line of work. Cool custom's you have. Nice pic's.
Welcome, Mike, from another 50-something. I posted a pic of your Stude at Lancaster on a different thread - I REALLY dug that ride!! Sorry you weren't around so I could meet you, but will try to look you up next year. If you're ever coming east to Rot-in-chester, give me a head's up and I'll buy you a couple of beers and give you the 25¢ shop tour.
Hey TagMan, Thanks for the compliment. I saw the picture you posted and that was the kick in the ass I needed to finally do an intro. Was in the pits most of the day at the Speedway, but walked around to check out the rides. It was definitly the biggest and best this year. One more of the stude. I usually don't advertise the goods. Mike
............geeze, and I thought this was gonna' be a gay post! Cool rides and great intro. WELCOME!!!
WOW...2 things. #1: Your intro should be held up for all FNGs to see. That has to be one of the best intros I've seen in the year + that I've been here. #2 I don't think I would have let the DeSoto go. That thing is great lookin'. #3 (I can't count, spell or speak too good) Welcome aboard...You've got some cool toys in your toybox.
Welcome aboard Mike, great intro. Gotta ask you a question. Your new little roadster, did you just buy that from Michigan by any chance? If not, looks EXACTLY like a buddy of mines. I'll have to dig up a photo and show you. I just looked at a photo, not the same, close but my buddys has a black rollbar, believe it or not, wider tires , and a little graphic thingy on the side. Close but it's not the same one. Anyway, welcome to the HAMB.
Denise, I found this car through a friend of a friend routine. It has been in a barn scince 1984, and belonged to a guy from the oldest local car club, the Clutch Artists. He passed away last year and I got the car from his buddy. As far as I know, he was from Buffalo, NY. The body is supposed to be one of the first made, the car was built in 1961! Thanx to all for the welcome. I've been poking around the HAMB for quite a while and there are a lot of good people on here. I hope to have a chance to meet some of you in person someday. Out into thedaylight after 20 years.
