I am planning a new gas tank under the pickup box (model A) and would like a few ideas on how to incorporate the filler and neck.

I would prefer not to have it in the box floor just in case I ever am carrying stuff, but right now I am open to any ideas and pic's of maybe what you have done.

I figure although mine is a model A right thru to say 1936 ideas may help.

I have seen some trucks with a little door in the bed for the gas filler.

I had an older truck (not 'A' old though) with an under-bed fuel cell. I hid the neck inside the fender well.

i built a tank for a project, talk about a tight squeeze! had to make a tunnel for the driveshaft and the clearance for the wishbones. ended up nice and it holds around 16 gallons i think it was..

I saw this truck at our club's annual North-South run this year. So many 53-56 F100's use the filler that comes up through the floor of the bed...this setup looked like a really good alternative. I believe that the cap ***embly is from the aviation industry.

I was losing the faith there for a few minutes, but you guys have restored it now.
I guess I kinder left something out when I was Posting as I was in a rush to go out.
My pickup is fenderless, oops big item to leave out I know, I just ***umed you guys read minds.

I was after reading the posts thinking of trying to fit one of those Jeep circular inset filler surround into the side of my bed and run the filler neck into the box side and down thru the floor into the top of the tank.

Anybody got any comments or ideas?

Below is a pic of the project and a Jeep filler neck surround that may fit into the side of the box.

Wow, I always thought the stock 34 pickups had the gas tank under the seat, maybe that is just for trucks then!

  13. How about hiding the filler in one of the stake pockets? I'm thinking about that for my '59.
