Hey my names Ray, I'm out of fullerton Ca. I'm wanting to know if any one knows of dropped spindles for a 54 ford with out having to convert to disk. At least a 2" drop. Here's some pics of my Ford
Ok, it's been a while and I don't know if it'll work on a 54 but I know you can split the lower plate from the rest of the A arm and insert 1" square stock to get a net of a 3" lowering, I think..... Do a search in the tech forums for lowering methods. I know I put a very simple description above but it really is about that easy. You just need some grade 8 bolts, some square stock or solid aluminum(drilled of course) and you're in business.
whats the lowdown on your car? whats the rear susp. whats the front? how long have you had it? looks kool!!!
dude nice car... ok im a 54 ford nut so heres the info you need. dc enterprises out of california makes what you need. i used them in my 54 ford and it worked out nicely. the kit includes 2.5 dropped spindles, rotors, calipers, hoses, and bearings. i belive its 595.00. next you will have to buy the master cly kit which is a 100.00 bucks. but gives you the new master and the front lines and fitting to do the conversion. you will need to buy new front rims. mine are 70 torino steel wheels. this kit worked out very well for me. give them a call. they also go by droppem and stoppem.
What synthysis said will work on a 54. Did it on mine last year. Got a kit from Nightprowlers and cut 3/4 of a coil for a 3" drop. Much cheaper than spindles. Nice sled.
Nice 54 any more photos. Is the back bagged? I have the same tail light treatment on my 54. That trunck set up loOks interesting. I havent seen that before. MORE PHOTOS PLEASE!!!!
sorry about that the car is bagged in the rear , yea the truck , i get a lot of my ideas from old rod and custom magz they call it pancakeing ill try to get more pic soon
yea, i'm pretty sure i answered this question for ya once before, but what the fuck, here goes. no. no one makes a dropped spindle for a 54 ford without disc brakes. do a spring bucket job and drop the car as much as you need without cutting coils and getting a shitty ride because of it. what in the hell is wrong with discs on a closed fender car anyhow?
no, you really dont... get a disc/drum master from a mustang or granada... they bolt on and they're MANUAL masters. no booster needed. then you also have two brake systems (1 front and 1 rear) as opposed to a single system
I haven't been on eBay lately but search '54 Ford. I seem to remember seeing a drop kit that someone was making, seems like it was similar to the above suggestion with the square tube. Nice car BTW, I have a mordor Customline...makes me look old.
Those kits are nothing but square heavy wall tubing. if you can install this "kit" you can make the parts and WAY hella cheaper too
Kustomrf you don't need to change your master cylinder, i have done a disc conversion on my falcon and still have the original single resovoir maser and no booster, works great. Good luck with it
