What is the most common rear end width used in a Model A? I was planning to go with a 9 inch but unsure if there are a certain car or truck to get it from? I also have plenty of Ford 8.8's laying around. I want something beefy to handle everyday driving and dragstrip duties also. Any help or comments are appreciatted.
Aren't the early Ford Broncos another good option? It seems like I've read about people using them... They might even be the 5x5.5 bolt pattern? Malcolm
I had this same question a while back and I was directed to this site. http://www.carnut.com/specs/rear.html It shows popular rear-end widths and what make/model cars and trucks they can be found on. Hope this helps. Good luck.
The early Bronco is also a good width. Mine came with a trac loc and they are 5 x 5.5. There is number of other good threads on this.
Thanks evryone for the help. I have a friend who has an old salvage yard and I was tripping over 9 inchers all day today. I also came across an old Dodge pick up and one of Chevy make (unsure of years but they were pretty ate up.) Maybe good for some parts. I'll check into them. Again thanks.
