I have a '40 Ford Coupe in the shop for some work. Needs a 3 core radiator but I don't see any way that a stock radiator was mounted, is there a core support? or radiator mount?. Got any pic's of what holds a stock radiator in a '40? What has worked for you in a '40? Thanks!
The 40 radiator mounts on ears spring-loaded to the frame just like the earlier cars. The front sheet metal is supported by a yoke which has a central mount like most cars of the era.
There are holes in the frame that the bottom mounting ears from the radiator bolt to and a slot at the top of the radiator sides a bracket mounts from there to the inner fender panels.
there's part of it. <!-- / message --><!-- attachments --><FIELDSET cl***=fieldset><LEGEND>Attached Thumbnails</LEGEND> </FIELDSET> That is not a 40. The frame on a 40 has a tab on each side that the tabs on the side of the radiator set on with a rubber pad, bolt thru a spring and nut to hold it together. There is a bracket on each side that fit's into a slot on the radiator and bolts to the inner fender panels to support the upper portion of the radiator. I don't have a good picture but could take one this evening for you.
Thanks guy's good info! All I had to go by was the holes in the end of the frame horns. Now I know what I need. Lon
If you get online and look through **** Spadaro's great catalog, I think you'll be able to see how it all fits together, unless my CRS is acting up again. B.A.
