Wintersun Festival 21st Birthday Celebrations. This event is staged at Coolangatta on the Queensland Australia Gold Coast. It is a 2 week event with an emphasis on the 50's era with Rock & Roll bands and dancing,Rockabilly bands and in the latter part of the event the car show on the final Saturday and Sunday. This year there were over 1000 cars in attendance. It is a mixture of hot rods, customs, classics street machines and some restored vehicles with the emphasis on early American vehicles. The main waterfront esplanade is closed down for the two days and vehicles exhibited there as well as in adjoining street and in the large park a couple of streets behind the foreshore. The weather was very kind to us and the previous weeks torrential rain moved away for the week and stayed fine for the main part of through to the final hours of Sunday. The crowds were great and with the variety of music, market stalls and vendors selling their wares it was a fantastic event again. We will be back in 2009.(Been going now for 17 years I think) The first few photos show the position on the beach and the general area. The rest are just a few shots of cars. With over 1000 cars this is only a small selection I could get in between the crowds milling about.

Cool pics, Allot of cars from vic geez thats a long drive 2000ks?(3200ml) I wanted to go but at only 800 ks away it would have cost $550 in fuel alone in the 54.
I really love that green little roadster. Great shots. I love seeing events from Down Under, especially Queensland. My most favorite coastline in the world. Thanks so much for sharing.
