  1. Hi there, I'm a West Aussie living in New Zealand, into any vehicle that an owner is passionate about. I'm into any modifying or fabricating that involves welding and love to watch old school crew work the metal. much respect for people with old school skills and the desire to chat with people about them..

  2. welcome to the HAMB from WA

30000 dumb kiwis for one hot rodder seems like a good exchange, so there are two Aussie hot rodders in the WLG area....

    welcome to the board.

  5. cheers crew, I was always reading about HAMB in street machine and NZV8 so thought I'd check in and see what's what and who's who..

  6. Hey Moon.dog I lived in the beautiful city for a while, strictly north of the river mind you.. I miss the big open roads and the white sandy beaches.. not the traffic cops or their bogus legislation though..

  7. Welcome new seeker... ;) I lived in WA myself for 2.5 years from '86-'88. Saw a few rods and street machines and went to Ravenswwod a couple of time too!
    Enjoy your stay here.

Hey, is the Nookenburra Pub still going? Watched George Thorogood and the Destroyers there on a memorable Sunday afternoon back in 1981. Was working/living/drinking/drinking and some more drinking in Kalgoorlie at the time.

Welcome to the home of real hot rods.

  10. Hey rustydeuce wasn't that the Nookenbah Hotel?? my welder wears a tradspeed sticker.. I miss the Sunday Sesh at the beer garden of any pub back home..

Welcome to the land of the Long White Cloud Seeker. What brings you to our great land?, and have those Wellington boys given you a welcome Hongi?

  12. The nookie is gone Rusty , they put some flash, up market tavern in it's place and new shops all around. foods good but it's just another yuppie pub now

  13. The roads brought me to NZ.. I'm a bike rider, these roads are the greatest.. my "family car" is sorted to enjoy the roads here not fight them.. I've got a couple of HT utes that I want to build a straight line racer from as well as perhaps a rod inspired streeter also.. but the utes are both works-not-yet-in-progress, the "family car" is in the middle of a freshen up so gotta finish that, in between other commitments before I can make a start on anything else.. I identify with the Hutt crew more so than the wellington crew but I'm settled her now either way

  16. can anyone help me with a problem? I'm building a 305 and want to put a set of factory heads on it, it's pretty much a stocker rebuild, but have been informed that I can't just bolt on a set of heads off a 350 (or 327, or 307, or 400). some posts suggest that 305 heads bolt up to a 350 with the only change being in compression ratio. I'm on a budget so not after sportsman this or vortec that, I want to buy a pair of heads for my 305 (stop snickering) but can't ever find them on trade me.. so my dilemma is: can I fit other non-305 sbc heads to my 305 with or without machine work??

  17. hey there Moondog I lived in Wembley, Warwick and Tuart Hill.. used to ride up to Geraldton pretty regularly and down to Busselton and Bunbury occasionally, loved the road to Northam and York too (was a Jazz Festival and York Hotel regular).. worked in Scarboro at Ob City for ages as well as in the city and Northbridge as well as Freo pretty regularly, loved the Perth car scene, and I am a West Coast supporter..

  18. i grew up in bayswater most of my life, spent some time in the goldfields and now live in the swan valley

You're obviously a man of great taste if you have a Tradspeed decal on the welder!:D

One of my first rods wore a 305, (after I toasted the 283) Powerpack heads went straight on, so I can't see why garden variety smallblock ones won't go, I havn't worked on a brand X Belly button for a long time, but as soon as you get rid of those smog heads, i think you'll have some fun. Just got the 400 to watch out for i think.
