finally talked my brother into an early car he is a toyota landcruiser guy but loves his f 100 except for the brakes .it is original 6 cyl but he wants to fit a 351 .my question is what disc brakes and booster will fit the 66 as we have a big swap meet coming up and finally we can go hunting together.he wants to keep the original wheels (widened)so it has to be the same stud pattern. thanks dave

I believe brakes up to '79 F100 will swap. The spindles will mount to the '66 axles. You just have to get kingpins for the donor vehicle application. I don't know what the differences are between kingpins, I just remember an article I read many years ago that said you should buy kingpins to match whatever spindles you're using.

The brake booster is a little harder. There was a thread on here a month or two ago about that subject. I seem to remember a few people had found one that would more or less bolt on. The '76 one I used needed to have the rod lengthened that went to the brake pedal. I had a welding shop cut mine and splice in a piece. If you do have to lengthen this rod, keep safety in mind. Some half-a** engineering and welding can result in failure, no brakes, kill people, etc......

I've seen a few trucks that had the proportioning valve mounted at the booster with a little bracket. If you come across something like that, it might make your brake line fabrication a little easier. I ended up mounting mine to the frame rail under the cab. Either way, you have to bend up some brake line to get everything connected.

I think it's a swap that's well worth the effort. I was very happy with mine when it was done.
