Took a few pictures at the Vargo Dragway Reunion in Eastern Pa. The show was the biggest turn out ever with cars and people everywhere. Along with the show we had a gathering of HAMBers....

I was there today with friends, they own the Red 56 chevy pick up and the chopped Green 26 Ford in the pictures above. My truck will be complete for next years show.

Thanks for posting the pics. And thanks for letting me park my heap in your corral. I was almost tossed out of the show right away. You know the guy who sells photos of "your car" upon entry?? I gave him the "finger" when he took my picture. Oh well, I make friends wherever I go!!!! The BSA was not happy. Sorry about that, it won't happen again.......

Wow, what a show! Thanks for posting the pictures and a special thanks to the HAMB guys who reserved our area. It was great meeting and hanging out with other HAMBers. Except for the Jalopy Showdown, which is in a cl*** of it's own, this was my favorite show this year.

I used to go there in the early to mid-sixies, but I don't remember a dragster named Vicious. However, I do seem to recall an over-the-top (for that time, anyway) dragster named The Shadow, which had a terrible wreck the day I saw it run. Would this be the same person's dragster I saw disintegrate that day? If it is, I'm glad to know he survived. On a brighter note, the H.A.M.B. turnout was really great today. I enjoyed talking to everyone. I'm sorry I missed you Tim, but I did see your very cool truck. Thanks for the great pics.

**** belfatti's "Shadow" only had 2 miss haps at Vargo both time's bobby vodnick was driving 1st time was when they sheared off the wheels studs and lost a tire, it went bouncing off the end of the track into the woods. and the second time was when they ran garlist and big daddy's chute caught the shadow rail in the shut down area. spun the car around and did some damage. in both case's it was all fixable and no one was hurt.

It was an incredible show in my opinion.

The HAMB group was a bunch of good guys (as expected) - thanks to The Shadow (Paul) for taking the time to put it together.

'HotRodSurfer' - never did find you - I think you were involved in setting things up also.

Was impressed by the number of cars running 3 or more carbureators - I know a single four-barrel runs better but they are boring!!!

It's really hard to pick the best car - but 2 really stood out for me (aside from race-only equipment).

One was a HAMB members' chopped '40 Ford Coupe - tri-carbed Caddy engine with a 4-speed, just a nice, nice hot rod, looked good, I wouldn't have changed a thing on it.

The other was a '51 Ford Convertible - lowered, chopped, sectioned, SHORTENED and WIDENED!!!! Good proportions, unbelievable workmanship and attenton to detail. Talked to the guy that built it, told him it would be perfect if it had a Flatty with three carbs (instead of a SBC with air, etc,) - he laughed and said he'd done that years ago; he liked the availablility of parts for the SBC.....
