Pulll the front axle , springs, backing plates, steering gear, and crush the rest. Just my opinion. traderjack
"Pulll the front axle , springs, backing plates, steering gear, and crush the rest. Just my opinion" Your opinion is horrible, this looks like a good candidate to bring back if the price was right. Lots of guys out there that dig these old crude machines.
I dont like to see anything go to the crusher that still has some good in it as a whole, I've seen way too much of that up here
Another vote for: "Bad Move!!" Around here, @ least, vintage circle track is much more respected than just a simple hot-rod. (perception, i guess; as a hot-rodder has just offered his thumbs down)
Absolutely! My buddy & another friend (w/NASCAR credentials [a blight on REAL racing!]) are saving several eastcoast examples. As for myself: i'm just an auto-****. Hotrod, sprintcar, midget, cool towcar, & specially Bonneville streamliners. Love anything that shows personal creativity.
That would really not take too much work to make look very interesting to someone who would like to have an old modified around. Sandblasting, diss***embly and cleaning and fresh paint. Then find a cheap sbc to put in it. I would say it is in pretty good shape.
I was going to put it on the cl***ified board after I figured out what year it was (or close to the year). I have a banjo rear end and 2 or 3 wide 5 rims for it that I would throw in. I agree that while it is rough, the old dirt cars are worth a little extra effort because of their history.
Just did a quick Google search and came up with this '33 Chevy Coupe photo. Note the double bead at the roof/quarter intersection. My money is on it being a 1933 Chevy 3 window.
Just because you do not have interest in a car. Or you think it will take to much work to bring it back is no reason to crush it .My model A was wrecked when my friend bought it the guy was going to crush it and Tim found it and bought it off the guy .20 years latter I have the opportunity to build a car that was supposed to be crushed that my late friend owned .My 2 cents
A freind of mine got an old mid 30s Ford bodied race car just a bout like that running with a 50's vintage drivetrain, Desoto hemi. At a car show this spring the origonal owner/driver saw it and sat down and cried like a baby, he thought the car was gone forever. He ran home and brought back a bunch of photos and newspaper articles on the car when it was raced in the mid 60's. The moment was worth any work it involved and sure a lot better than crushing it.
OK, to all of you guys who think it should be saved. How much would you pay for it as shown, delivered to your place? Would you pay the value of the front axle , spring , steering gear, etc. I am interested in what you think it is worth as it sits, so tell me what YOU would pay for it! traderjack
Would you pay the value of the front axle , spring , steering gear, etc. I am interested in what you think it is worth as it sits, so tell me what YOU would pay for it! traderjack Its the fact that you want to strip it down and s**** the rest regardless of history or saveability. I think a good deal would be about 600. delivery isn't an issue im sure he would be able to sell it to a local easily being as it raced that area.
They run these old race cars down here at Zepherhills sometimes. It looks like fun, but it hasn't really caught on yet. If you check ebay these things don't bring much when finished. Maybe someday they'll catch on.
Thank you for the input on the year and everyones interesting comments. I'm only looking for a reasonable price, not trying to make this out to be more than it is. I'm sure it will go to someone with the right experience with these cars.
This person asked what year was the car also the make .You jump in and type strip it down s**** the rest .Are you always this free with your its **** send it to the s**** yard opinion .The car is worth money to some one and may have history? My 2 cents
