I have a chance to buy a good rebuildable 392 from a friend. The plan for the re-build will be for a fairly mild motor, 10:1 static compression, hydraulic stick around 230 @ 0.050 0.500 lift 110 LSA, cleaned up heads running standard sized valves, and a pair of block hugger headers to suit my 30 coupe.

My question is, what are the U Fab 4 x 2 or 6 x 2 intakes like in regards to fuel disributuon etc.? I would prefer to run a Weiand Drag Star, but money's an issue. I know, I know, if I wanted a cheaper option I should have considered a SBC. I'd like to hear from anyone with practicle experience, I'm open to different induction setups. I'd like to keep the coupe a traditional Rod, so keep that in mind gents, no EFI, or 1050 dominators please...

    Boner :)

I ran 6x2 on gas and fuel in a 32 fuel coupe. Distribution not a problem, the engine likes the manafold. Goldy

Weiand has 2x4 setup that runs good, I used one on mine.

Check out Hotheads and PAW, they have quite a few different manifold options.

The 4x2 log is very compatable with a 392..Not much to figure out when you run all 4 carbs at the same time..

I have a hot heads single 4 bbl on my 331 with a Edelbrock 750 carb ala AFB- no problems runs great and wasn't that bad price wise. You can find them on the bay occasionally.

The U-fab concept 6x2 intakes are certainly not new to Hemis and Crower certainly thought they were a good enough idea to make them for a bit. The thing that might be different between a cast and steel fabricated manifold could be the way the interior of the "logs" are made. I know on my cast construction Offy 6x2, it actually has small baffles all along the bottom of the "logs". I'm guessing those were used to create turbulance and help with the fuel mixture itself before it's pulled into the cylinder. I've never had anyone give me a difinitive answer on that. Hemis like to breathe either way, so you should be fine.

If I recall, I think Littleman is running a u-fab 6x2 on his 392. Maybe he can throw some induction facts your way.

In practical terms, 1-4bbl is a simple as it gets. Like was said, multiple carbs are just multiple dollars and the really neat manifolds are bloody expensive. If you are not filthy rich then put it together with 1-4bbl and keep shopping til you get lucky. We have had excellent luck boring out the stock manifold to match the Holley bore spacing and 1-11/16 holes. It really makes it into a totally different intake and with a basic 3310 Holley it is a great package and reasonably cheap.

Thanks guys, good advice. I think I'll run the 392 with the factory 4 BBL intake until I get my hands on a U fab 6 x 2 intake. I have 2 rebuilt 97's just need another 4 plus a set of linkages. I love it when a plan comes together.
