Folks Of Interest Axle's '36 on CK Deluxe Cover

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Fivewindow Johnnie, Nov 3, 2008.

  1. Just came in from the mail box with the new CK Deluxe and what did I spy on the cover behind the busty girl ?? Alex Idzardi's '36 Three Window Coupe, one of my favorite cars.

There's even a pic of his ugly mug in there. He looks like he just stepped out of a Bus Station mens room with George Michaels, but hell, he always looks that way.

Seriously, nice story about a very cool Coupe and a great guy ! CONGRATS!, and see ya next week knothead.

    Wipe your chin,

    Johnnie.

That was a fun photo shoot to watch...and I got to see a little more than most magazine viewers will...Axle and Joe know what I mean :)

Alex's '36 has come a long way since I first saw it and his hard work has really paid off. This thing looks bitchin' going down the road and sounds great too.

Congrats........but I'm wondering, where's all the CKD haters now. Usually one mention of CKD/OSR and it's on man, bring out the popcorn. People shouting how they wouldn't allow a picture of their car anywhere near these magazines.

I don't feel that way, I don't mind the magazine, I buy it everynow and then if I find something worthwhile in it. I just don't care for hypocrisy........

    A-Bomb,

Your gonna find that every time a Hamb'er or some "PILLER" of the community gets His/Her Rig in ANY magazine

Its Total Hypocrisy but thats how these guys work, SELF Promotion in ANY mag they can get in so they Look Good in "THE SCENE"

This is not a Poke at Alex by anymeans, Its an Observation of what i (as well as others) See time & time again.

I have known Alex for years, Back when only Greasy car guys had Old cars, now its a Fad.

It's easy to hate when you don't know the car owners featured in the mag...it's easy to cut up some owner's cars when you don't know them...it's easy to hate when the car doesn't meet HAMB approval (trust me, I know this first hand...!!!)...it's easy to hate when the "traditional" tag gets blurred over to something else...

Congrats Axle...and to the photographer as well...

Thanks very much guys. My neighbor came over and showed me his copy as i haven't received one yet. I'm pretty happy with the article as well as the photography.
It's really made me focussed and put me back on track with building cars and everything - been a while since i sold my two old coupes - Blue deuce and the Yellow 34, and it feel's real good to have another Hot Rod built and on the road.
Next build is my chopped Deuce 5 window with a blown M/T Pontiac engine.

    Special thanks to:

My wife for putting up with the boys and i cussin, drinking, bbq'in, and building this stuff out in the garage til wee hours of the night - all the time. ( I need a quieter air compressor)

Jeff Vodden for finding me the car.

Fabian "English Wheel" Valdez for his expertise in bringing that roof back to shape!

Marky & Hudson Joe for doing the wiring - I suck at it !

Congrats on making the cover man!! Who cares what magazine it is, anyone would be proud to be on the cover! I will be be the first to tell you CK Deluxe is not my favorite, (Rodders Journal, Rod&Kulture, Rod&Custom are at the top of my list) But I still buy it once in awhile when I see it. But this thread isnt really on the mag, its about celebrating the cover shot! Nice work Alex the Poacher and everyone involved!

    ABomb...

Tons of hypocrits...TONS! The same ones that dog out these magazines would give their left nut for a shot of their junk in the mag. The '36 is badass, regardless of what mag it is in! I just hate the ones that would never have a chance to get their stuff in a magazine because it is sitting somewhere. Ashamed to bring it out and drive it because it might get called something that they don't approve of.

    Thats just STUPID!!!

Get that shit out and drive it.

I have subscriptions to EVERY magazine that might have something cool in it. CK Deluxe and OSR included. Like them both.
