Unless something mental happens between now and then, I can't make it. My brother's getting married in Yosimite and I'm in the wedding party. I told him I'd get him back for that.

Ask and you shall receive.... even though I am going into a major depression cuz I won't be going this year. [IMG] I guess I'm glad I do have my photos from last year to look at. Why does it have to be so far or me so broke [IMG] [IMG]

For all the folks camping at the bend in the road. There is a service station open all nite about 3/4 of a mile away. They have ****ters, showers and amazingly enough a decent little Mexi dinner that serves Ok chow.

Bring some *****er repelent. There is a drainage c**** next to the bend. Also be prepaired to rise with the sun. If your in a tent it heats up quick and thats when a lot of people head for the course.

And what sam says. Dont start any loud engines after 11pm.....some people do get PISSSED OFFF!

AND, no "cutting broadies" in the hotel parking lots, OR out on the salt!

The "fuzz" issue tickets in Wendover; and the SCTA will ****** you off the premises.

We'll be heading up Hwy 395 to Tonopah Thursday evening and up Hwy 6 to Wendover on Friday Morning. I'll be bringing up a bright yellow ez-up this year to add to the group at the end of the pits. Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year.

Germ, yeah I'm going. I'm thrashing on the '36 so I can drive it. You will love the **** out of it. The Tank won't be there until the World Finals in October so if you look for me, I've been asked to help out on the Wilson & Waters fuel roadster. Wayno

For those who haven't been there before, there are 3 places you'll be likely to find other HAMBers.
1:after dark on saturday at the bend in the road.
2:Around the N-49 or Tardel rigs in the pits anytime the cars aren't in line to run.
3:Look for the RRT easyup just past the pits.

When you get on the salt, you'll drive out to where you'll see a bunch of cars parked. That'll be the starting line. From there you'll see cars parked along the side of the course untill you come to another big area with lots of cars, trailers and rigs. That's the pits. After that it goes back to a line of cars along the course again. The RRT easyup is usually just after the pits. Bring binoculars and a portable radio so you can listen to the SCTA channel for what's going on. You can park anywhere along the line and watch. Portable shade is highly reccomended.(easy-up)

Bring a broad brimmed hat, sunscreen, sun gl***es, and lots of water. There is food sold in the pit area, but I'd reccomend bringing your lunch out with you. It's a long, hot, bright day in the sun so plan for that.

In the mornings they do the record runs so you want to be out there early to see the fast stuff. Then all day long they make runs. Those who qualify during the day on their particular record will go to impound to make their record attempt the next morning. Due to the speeds and the nature of the event the spectator line is quite a ways back from the course. Binoculars or a spotting scope really help. You can see the cars close up at the starting line area or in the pits. Don't forget your camera.

See ya on the salt [IMG]

Gidday everyone--I haven`t posted for a helluva long time, came back to stick this in.The last month has been really awful--my best Kiwi mate Jonesy lost his battle with Cancer July 12th.Ho****e duty ****s bad.His wife just gave me his well worn Pith Helmet,so we will be taking it for sure.Add to that the fact that we sold our House at the end of June and as of August 20 we have to be out and i can`t find a decent house in Washington with a decent shop attached...But enough of that.As it`s the 20th Anniversary of my first trip to the Salt. I am driving my A Sedan down this year.Hope to leave from the Chevron in Troutdale OR about 5am on Thursday the 12th.Hope that Chris the kid and his dad will caravan with their Olds powered A Roadster.Hope to catch up with you all--at the least we have to celebrate Aussie Steve`s birthday on the Tuesday night with lots of Adult beverages--although I am bringing my son Conor for the first time this year so I may be less noisy than in the past.....

Hey Paul...........I'll be lookin for yer N.Z. *** at the bend. I'm driving my ratty *** old black 41 pontiac bidness coupe. Are you bringing the VW blocks this year?
Hey, I'm trying to talk Scotty into accompanying me to the salt but he has some previous commitment to satisfy. [yawn] He'll meet me at the drags tho, which is where you should be on the 21st of August....
I'll be lookin for the ground-s****er A sedan....Bring Don L with ya. I think he'd just lay down and die on the spot with all the ratty rods around him......see ya!
