hi guys, i`m going to do a step by step build on metalmeet starting in a few weeks. i`m still researching the different designs out there to decide which i`ll be going with. my goal is to build a two headed hammer (one end for shrink ,one for stretch so no wasted time switching back and forth) the design i`m looking at is one where the hammer can be used like a power hammer (with an overhit) or as a recipricating hammer (like a pullmax) and also is a guided way hammer for more repeatable shrinking. i should say , just so its clear, i did not invent or even think of this idea. shop dog and anoka have been selling plans and machines for a while. the owner of shop dog (richard k) came up with this particular idea but this particular machine has never been built. i`ll keep you guys posted as this is built, i still have quite a few questions about the design. (how heavy to make the rotating ***y. ?, balancing of a two headed hammer ? those kinds of questions) gary
wow , this is an old thread. i built the hammer i was talking about , works great. its has adjustable stroke , variable speed, lots of clearance adjustments for doing body lines etc. here`s a link to it on metalmeet. http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10054
