Teapots anyone?

    Im rebuillding my 50 merc and wanted to know, if anyone knew antyhing on the holley 885..?? Are they junk? I see everyone running 97 stroms or 94 holleys? I read teapots used to leak real bad [MAYBE JUST A RUMOR] .......off the subject whats up with the demon 98 are they really the sh^$ Barry's other carbs dominate{hahaha}on sbc/bbc but, what about flattys??

    I wouldn't say they are junk, some people like them but most flathead builders will change out the intake and run multiple 94's or strombergs. I hear they are good carbs but they look kind of funky.
     
  3. There's a reason they're nicknamed the "Towering Inferno"! In good shape and with some attention everytime you change oil, etc., they'll do OK. But, let 'em go for awhile and you're guaranteed to have a leaker...

    Maybe so, but the only flathead i ever had to 'put out' was wearing a pair of 92's

    Ditch em. I had them on a Y-block and they leaked and needed alot of attention
