Heres a few more pics. After driving it I realized it needed a way to put gas in it., and an air cleaner would be good as well. The gas cap is from a Jesse James motorcycle tank, and the scoop is handmade by som old guy at the sandiego autoswapmeets. He has been doin them for like 30 years or so.

Kool. enjoy your new ride. I have been blasting around in a 5 window for the last nine years with a blown 'W' motor. What intake did you use?

  8. Sweet Ride, next step is making it full show and building a tank big enough to chrome plate the entire frame.

I had BDS build a manifold. It was a fiasco. I would recomend waiting it out and getting an old one from ebay.

Wow. One bad mother! Between the round tube frame, the blown 409, and the lift up body, this is my all time favorite hamb build. I cant wait to see it painted.

    Well,
I took the car out today. After a few slow runs i decided to jump on it a little. long story short... I ripped the hairpin mounts off of the rear axle. the rear came out of the car and i went slidding down the road sideways. Note to self, speedway hairpin kits are not meant for 700 horsepower. Oh yea, the car is fine and knowone got hurt. I have it all on video and pics will be available asap.

I got the car all torn down today. . the rear shocks, and springs were toast. The rear hairpins were bent and all of the heims were junk. I built way stronger hairpin mounts, replaced all of the carnage, and ordered new brake lines. Upon inspection I realized the problem came from an X-employee, and his laziness. It seems he didnt feel it was neccisary to clean all of the paint off of the rearend before welding the haipin mounts onto it. I am sure his work would have held up to a mild motor, but the 600+ hp. of the blown 409 tore the mounts clean off of the axle, sending the rear out the back of the chevy and taking everything with it. I will put up the pics as soon as I have them in my hands. I was VERY fortunate that the body came out almost unharmed, and the motor escaped with no problems at all.

The car is back together. I took the oppertunity to change the stance a lil. I also built all new mounts and strengthened the snot out of the rear hairpins. Im feelin pretty confident in its ability to really run. Im thinkin I will have to wait for spring to find out. Oh well i guess its time to sand, and sand, and sand and paint.
