In the fantastic thread "Drag cars in motion" started by Royalshifter, 50mercfan posted this image

Which got me to wondering what other CRAZY dragsters have there been in the past 50+ years of the sport?

We all have seen cars like Mysterion but I have never seen them actually racing like Shower Power above!

Well I doubt Shower Power was technically racing. Probably just an exhibition vehicle. Mysterion an exhibition vehicle also. Just one is moving, the other isn't.

Agreed - however I doubt that many of the Barris or Roth cars drove very far or for any length of time before being tailored (some did but not the majority) and they certainly did not pop wheelies on the strip!

I remember building all types of wild drag race and Kustom car models as a kid and there are all types of websites for Roth and Barris wild kustoms but none I have found for these crazy drag cars

I guess it is because they were far and few between and just a novelty.<O:p

I still think the craziest looking one was the Ramchargers' High and Mighty. And while not as crazy looking, I've got a soft spot for Yellow Fang too.

The Mysterion couldn't withstand just rolling off the trailer, it literally collapsed the frame.
Show business has always been a part of the scene.

Hey GulfCoastG***er,.....

I am kind of surprised to see you over here on the HAMB again after how badly you trashed it on "Club Hot Rod" (CHR),...
Oh yeah and by the way what exactly is a " '77 F100 Hybrid Diamond in the Rough!" ,...........

GulfCoastG***er got the last word on the thread about the HAMB,.....

"There may be a few folks over there that know what they are talking about and feel like they have to administer advice with a kick in the pants, but the majority are posers that follow the pack mentality of jumping on a guy only once he is down.[IMG]
In the past folks like those needed a sheet to mask their really iden***y – today they use the web.[IMG]"

It's a pretty interesting thread, if you can stomach it,....

Moderators,... if this post is out of line, I apologize in advance, and please feel free to remove it if it seems to be to confrontational. but after considering it for a very long time, I felt this needed to be mentioned

I like the Shower Power! But, got to agree, that trash talking rarely produces anything positive for anybody. Sometimes some firm advice is warranted, but trash talking just isn't productive or useful.

Interesting is right. Some valid points for sure... I think I agreed with more than I disagreed with to be honest with ya...

but in its essence that post is a lot of the same they accuse us of. :) (just pussified)

Those guys are funny! :p

13. I saw "Shower Power" race back in the late 60's or early 70's. I know it was before 72, they closed the local track then. It would race The Little Red Wagon all the time. A few of us old guys were taking about the old drags, they used to have all kinds of show stuff, all the time. ( guys sliding behind cars and motorcycles, motorcycle jumping, jet cars, stuff like that.) When the thread about the wheelie poppers came up I thought about this one for some reason:p. Oh' well I'm done

I wasn't talking **** behind my buddy's back - I was simply stating that some , NOT ALL, members of this group, as well as other groups, seem like it is their job to piss on everyone's parade. And if that is how they get their kicks, fine I can take it or dish it, but I just don't understand why some folks get so violent, especially when they are guarded by the cover of the internet and a funky web ***le. If you want to attach me in person that is one thing, but to yell from behind the web is another.

Plus I just happen to notice, the folks that spread the most smack are the same ones with hundreds of posts, sometimes 10plus a day and on multiple sites, which tells me they are spending more time behind the keyboard than a wrench. Thus the poser comment.

My at***ude is, it is a free world and if I read something that pisses me off, I move on - life is too darn short. If I can complement someone or add some actual experienced advice then I might join a thread, but not always - since I realize my opinion is just like my a-hole, same as everyone else's.

If you don't like my thread or post - ignore it or delete it but why piss on it? I just don't understand the logic.

Incredible. Hot ride and I am sorry to hear about the mishap.
I know what it is like to bust your hump on a project and then have an accident.
