the problem is people store cars with antifreeze in them, then the head gaskets go bad and water gets into the cylinders and then it's over.

I have used Marvals Mystry Oil mixed 50/50ish with Automatic trans fluid but if it's really locked up nothing will help. SBCs are a dime a dozen, find another one is probably your best bet.

Yeah, since they're fairly abundant, you might be better off with a better core to start with. Figure on breaking some rings and piston lands if you get it to break loose.

Soak it anyway, but do it with the heads off and consider taking the bottom end apart to look at the crank. Forget about getting this to run even if you do free it up.

Pull heads first. Ya done that?
    Check for water in cylinders.
determine if there is too much erosion to clean up with a .030" cut. If so, start looking for another dime-a-dozen engine.
If it looks savable, and only some of the pistons won't "rock" unbolt the connecting rods and pull out the pistons that will come out and tap on the stuck ones with the handle end of a hammer till they come loose, or break loose.
Remove the crank at any point you can in this process.
If it has standing water in a cylinder, it's probably economically junk.

Marvels Mystery Oil for about 2-3 days and a pry bar to the flywheel. My SBC was in storage for about the same amount of time as yours and it broke loose and runs like a champ.

Kroil is my favorite and I buy it online from gun dealers and the like.

  9. i've had them so stuck that i ended up driving out the pistons with a hammer and wooden block. of course then it was completely rebuilt

i had a 327 free up after 2-3 days of soaking in Marvel Mystery oil and it actually ran great with no oil burning...so there is hope for your engine . it depends on how badly it's rusted , you may want to pull the heads and see

MMO. I love the stuff. Use it to help break it loose. Then use a little bit of it in all of your gas powered toys.

  11. I would pull the heads and look inside. It will only cost you some gaskets, and you might find out you have a boat anchor. Engines with no spark plug in them can get pretty rusty bores just from condensation.
