Look for one that has a little rubber wheel on it. The wheel contacts the steeringwheel hub when the signals are on and straighening the wheel out turns then off. Or put a BRIGHT pilot light somewhere near your normal line of vision to remind you.

Just as a completely left field option, you could put a timed relay on your turns and just bump the turn signal and move it right back to off and have it stay on for a preset amount of time like 30 seconds. The relay will feed the flasher and then cut off.

I know it is a left field option, but you'll never get pull over for leaving it on again.

I'm going to add a small indicator light in the header panel above the W/S so that it is at eye level and very hard to miss because I love my art deco signal selector. I've heard of others that have added a 12V buzzer to keep you aware that it is still blinking.

I see the old self cancelling styles with the rubber wheel on ebay now and then. Wiring can be a bitch.

Wow slow night i guess..I wonder how many Old ladies that were going around the world in left hand turns, he had to fly by to get to you?

I would have been tempted to tell him..hey do you realize this car didnt even come with signals when it was new..I added them in the interest of being a responsible motorist.sorry i left it on. than i would have went home and took them all off and used my hand from than on...self canceling too BTW.

sorry got off on a rant..

Leave your arm out the window all damn night, see if the fuzz give you any crap!

Seriously, indicator lights on the dash are the best, or a buzzer/chime. Easy and cheap!

If your real into creating, you might find that a steering column is theoretically the same as any other. What you may want to consider doing is to take your steering wheel off, take the plate at the top of the outer tube off, or modify it to accommodate a 53- 55 ford f100 turn signal switch. They are simple, sturdy, all steel/ no plastic and not a clamp on. I dont know why people arent doing this already. It works. You will have to put a canceling catch on the steering shaft but its a good deal.

You cant see anything but the signal arm coming from the back side of the column. Shoot, you might even be able to modify the collar of the column you have. Make your own lever though, they cost too much for what they are. Its an easy one to fab. Good luck

Most motorcycles have self-cancelling signals. One "push" on the switch in either direction activates the signals and the system then cancels automatically. If you could rig a self-centering turn signal stalk on the column to momentarily trigger the bike system, it should be the deal trip and forget system. Worth a look? Gary

Not to complain about a accidental turn signal being left on too much. But those of us that ride motorcycles, this can be deadly.Say I'm coming at you with my left turnsignal on and see yours on also.I assume that your turning left, but you aren't.Next thing I know your pissed off at me for turning in front of you.I would complain to my fellow riders out there that I see more bikes than cars riding with the left blinker on also.Good way to kill yourself. Thanks,Frosty

from an electrical standpoint, a flasher is a flasher give or take alittle. you can buy one at any autoparts store and or truck stop for that matter. all it does is heat up, break contact, cool down, make contact. click-click click-click

Have you tried a loud flasher? They seriously make them, the flasher itself makes noise. Some just have an extra loud click, others will actually beep or chirp.

Bloody: That looks awful damn complicated for just turn signals. I adapted a Corvair unit with self- canceling for next to nothing.

I have a Model T with "stock" type steering wheel & "stock" type column. I have the Speedway self canceling switch hooked up to the spark control with two monitary switches. Works good I have an old park light under the dash with idiot lights including turn signal lights (led's) otherwise, my dash is stock Model T with a oval Model A speedometer.

You can purchase a buzzer from Ron Francis and wire it. It is loud and offensive. It will drive you crazy. You will never fail to turn the signal off. You may also do something similar with a buzzer or door bell unit from Radio Shack. It works.

I want timed push buttons so they can be hidden in my 27 roadster. I am also going to monitor the brake switch to keep them flashing while the brake is pressed. Speedway sells a 100 dollar unit to do this but this is cheeper and I enjoy. Coding
