As my screen name states, I've got a '51 Ford four door, a '67 Pontiac 9 passenger (4 door) wagon and I've inherited a '68 Chrysler Newport 4 door. Yup!

My favorite mor-door would be a 1938 Dodge. had one but sold it off now I wish I had it back. I do like 32 Ford 4 drs also, but not many don't. :)

4-doors are only practical. They don't go any slower.

  5. I have had them all but I like my moor door its always been Dechromed even the Door
handel's but when I lived in Florida, Miami they told me I had to have the Front Door Handel's
on to pass Inspection so I put the on that was Many moon's ago & I left them on

When the fo'do' was a one owner survivor.
When it's already been freshened by friend whose abilities are known.
When it's had 3.5x the price wisely spent in hopup/freshening.
When it's offered at 25% less than it sold for on e-slay.

One of the best buys I ever made.
Much as I prefer to build rather than buy.
But for a daily driver, I work past that preference.
Can't beat the bang for buck.

My philosophy is that you should build the car that YOU want. If you're building it to impress other people, you've missed the point.
Personally, I think a pillarless 4 door trumps a coupe any day (especially if its a 57 Ford, but thats just me...)
Here Down-under, we didn't get alot of options, most of our home-grown classics and aussie muscle were lots-a-doors, and they are plenty cool.

of course and i have, with a family it's the only way to go, the missus would have had a hissy fit if i bought a 2 door. she sees it as unsafe. but whatever floats your boat i say.
    cheers

  9. Yes. 4 doors don't always mean uncool. Son's recent find - sure beats a minivan for haulin' the kiddies, and won't look bad either!: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=306908

4dr's are great. I built an A 4dr in 1979 when they weren't kool but it was all I could afford but it did work well with a family. I put 90k on it in the US and Canada and it was a great ride --- BUT---- I always wanted a 28 roadster. Three years ago I lost interest in the old sedan and sold it. Six months later I was offered a pile of parts they said was a roadster but you had to have a lot of imagination. Been working on it since and have loved every minute of it. Hopefuly will have it on the road in a couple of years.

yes i would and have, all my cars have been 4 doors and i love them,,sports sedans are my favorite 4 doors,my curent project is a four door, which they didnt make in a two door(50 chevy wagon, unless you consider a suburban a wagon).but i do agree most cars look better in a two door version.

I built myself a great 4 door 52 Hudson, 2 doors are VERY rare down under. It was fun for the whole family and had great lines, cars don't have to have 2 doors to look good. Here are the before and after shots. I vote Yes!

With a family, they make the most sense. Trying to put a kid in a rear car seat with a 2 door SUCKS. I looked SPECIFICALLY for the right 4 door. I think the 59's are one of the few cars that they didn't jack up the looks to make it a 4 dr.
