I am brand new to this website! I just bought a 1976 Chevy Nova for my 17 yr old son for his first car! It has a 305 V8. Everything is original, it looks sad right now. But, I know it has lots of potential! I am just looking for any pointers at all on fixing this car up and making it a fun project car for me and my son. The 305 gets horrible gas mileage! I am planning on putting on a new intake and changing the 2 bbl carb to a holley 4 bbl. I just don't know what cam to go to to increase the performance but at the same time help with gas mileage? I don't want to get too radical here on the cam. The body of the car is in pretty good shape except a rusted out panel below the back windshield. The interior is totally shot, but the car is 32 yrs old and looks like it!! My Dad and I worked on an old chevy truck together getting it restored and this Nova is bringing back lots of memories for me and hopefully will make some good ones for my son! Anyway that is me in a nutshell and why I am here checking out the site. Thanks for stopping by! I hope to meet some of you soon! Later!
Welcome fellow Texan. Been there done that father son thing.I'll never forget the experience. As for the cam talk to Compcam, they are the best. A lot of info. also from the HAMB fellows. Don In Austin www.myspace.com/mylil34
Welcome. I did the same but with oldest daughter - she helped me restore and mod her '68 Galaxie (302 V8) She is now 20 and still using the car everyday in college. A fantastic experience. I believe if every child grew up with cars and learning how to work on them - the world would have less helpless adults.
welcome to the board from south TEXAS! Hep! dido on doing the father son project. Restored a pick-up with him back about 15 years ago. Turns out my son loves fishing with his daughter. Any way good luck with your NOVA project, had four of them myself. P.S.. just shoot the 305 and plug in a 350.
