I talked to a Cougar guy a few years ago, and he had original Fomoco chrome reverse wheels covers on his car. They were hubcaps, but looked like chrome reverse wheels. He said they were pretty rare. The fronts have the spindle hub in them, the rears have a blanked-off smooth spot that would look like the wheel register over the axle. I was in a junk shop yesterday, and found a pair of the fronts hanging on nails. $10 later, and they were my truck. Anybody have any info on these, other than the one Cougar owner I talked with? (Also FINALLY got an old "Slow Children At Play" sign to hang in my son's room...it's a constant reminder to him that punctuation is important! -Brad
As noted by tommy, the only cars I ever saw them on were Comets, although they may have been on some Fairlanes, etc. as well.
I had a set of four and I ran two of them on the front of my '63 Ford Falcon Sprint when I had that thing. (And Torq-Thrust copies on the back.) They're 14" Ford wheelcovers--the 1960s five-bolt pattern--and they should fit a variety of 14-inch Ford wheels with that pattern. What you also need is those pointy lug nuts that I think Moon sells--to poke through the holes in the wheelcovers. I believe they were stock equipment on 1964 and 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclones--the hot ones. And that's all I know--except that they're getting expensive.
