I've seen a couple in Rod & Custom the last few years. One was mostly stock with some dechroming, which is all these cars need. The other they butchered the cool grille for a '60 Merc (which is fine in a '59 Chevy) and changed the taillights and fins - what do you know, there's a picture of it. It's nice and nicely done, but the grille, fins and taillights are a major part of the cool factor of a '59 Pontiac, it makes no sense to me especially up front to customize it the same way as umpteen '59 Chevys have been. To me that front on those just looks naturally pissed off, like you'd regret screwing around with that car.
Thanks. My friend has 2 very clean stockers. I think he wants to do a custom with one of them. He had one back in the early 60's that Barris did some work on, and Larry Watson painted. Yeah, the one he regrets selling.......
my Dad got this new, it was originally white with red interior, then my big brother got it around 71.
'59 Pontiacs are perfect candidates for customizing... Nice pics, though personnally I love the stock front and wouldn't change it.
Any more pictures? Just found a B'ville 59. I do not like the side trim, it is just not right in the back. The green 60's one with the Astros is killer. Any information on this one? I would like to change the stock bumper, and make split bumpers. The nose wild like the green one, or even wilder and longer to the bottom.
