haha, i spelled stake wrong. i was tired last night. anyway

the jeep is my girlfriends dads, it is really rough, like body falling over the frame, but the frame and drive train is still good, and there is another motor and tranny sitting with it. who knows. when i take the pickup they may tell me to get the willys out too, i have some out door room at my shop.

thanks for the info so far.

good to know about the wheels! ill make sure i find them all.

i really have no use for a big truck parts hauler, but a small truck parts hauler would be nice. it would be really neat if i could get the origional drive train working again.
they said they found the hood and side panels in the basement of the house, and the uncle has the headlight buckets and light bar along with the a brand new grill shell!

    Couple questions.
are the front fenders the same as the car fenders?
is the fron suspension the same as the car?
wouold it be possible to use that rear end in a small truck? it has a splitter.

Front fenders are the same as car & pickup, front end is AA only,That rear is goung to have a low ratio and not worth using outside a restoration.

Just what i was thinking...Oh, yeah you one lucky young punk...

  9. behind the engine ...the two wheels look like part of a pedal tractor to me...

  10. I'm sitting here thinking what a great find also but, I am also thinking, boy, it's a good thing you held onto your girlfriend after all those no's when you asked if you could see the old truck in grandpa's barn. Looks like you passed the test with flying colors! Also bet she's one smart woman and learned a lot from grandpa.
    WTG!

Well I finally got the truck. I wanted to get it before snow fell, just incase the barn were to come down.

So we left the frame, rear end and engine there, I'll have to get them in the spring. But I did end up getting alot of unexpected parts!

So I think I'm going to track down a regular A chassis and sell off or trade the AA stuff. I want a nice little hotrod pickup and running the banger. This will be the ride I just drive around town, no long trips, just local car shows and cruise nights.

I'm no A expert but is it a 31? Judging by the fenders and the grill.

    enjoy

As far as your radiator question goes it's the one on the left that is for your truck. The one on the right is 28 29.

really? Would a 28-29 be shorter in height? both of these have the same dimensions.

  18. Run the banger? If you do I think the AA truck bell housing is the one they use to adapt T5 transmissions. A desirable part if you part the chassis out.

Where is the barn? Leamington? Kingsville? Harrow? A'burg?
If you're in LaSalle, my cousin has the old farm pickup I learned to drive in. It's a '48 GMC and I've been after it for years. My cousin is one of those "I'll fix it up one day" type of guys. Apparently it's sitting in his driveway in LaSalle. Keep your eyes open.

that truck looks pretty good for Ontario, they must not have driven it much in the salt, are you going to be useing the frame?

  22. No, 28/29 had a threaded radiator cap bung, 30/31 had the twist on. So if there the same dimm, I would bet the one on the right is an early aftermarket, the one on the left looks factory Ford

  23. Also, judging by the firewall and grill it's a 1930

AA's from 1928 to early '30 used a passenger radiator.

Late '30's and '31's used a 4 row core...and a thicker shell with a straight area beneath the Ford oval, rather than the "point".

Great information. as of right now motor wise im missing the carb and dstributor. Thanks!

also, im able to turn the motor over with my hand, is this supposed to happen this easily?

hmm ill keep my eye out, do you know the street? there was one that used to be across the street from me at my old house, not sure if its there anymore.

ya its not bad, it has rot at the very bottom of the doors, and cowl from sitting in the dirt all this time.

i figured the one on the right was aftermarket, it looks hand made and its a 2 row, but had double the tubes in each row, then the other which is a 3 row.

  27. Your young & have time & ambition first get the willys to pull stuff out Then sit that cab on a Durango chassis Then send the Willys to me!
