Hot Rods "A" simple sedan

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dirtyest Devil, Nov 12, 2008.

  1. Just plain and simple...

Finished this about two months ago. Owner took it to work out some bugs and I never really got any good pics of it. So here she is...

Car is real fun to drive... flies!

Very nice...close to what I'm building.

  8. Thanks all.

Myke, not to happy at moment with car stance.

I need to correct a few things. I have a weak 40 spring in it now, lever shocks in the rear. The car bottoms out as I didn't notch the frame as I kinda think it looks a little street roddy, cool, just not my thing.

I bought another 40 spring off the Hamb, it's in route now. So I gotta re set it up. I did a temporary fix by lowering the rear bones a hair, only because customer/friend was impatient. I hate it. So it is all coming back apart, and I'll never do that again.

So, I really not digging most of these pics due to the bones looking to low. I'll fix!

D.D., you are being pretty hard on yourself here, that baby is so sweet. But I am just enjoying the clean look I'm not driving it. Good Luck with your re-do. Thans for sharing this cool one with us. It rocks!!~Sololobo~

  10. Couple colored pics...

In the bottom two pics you can see the back bones below the frame. Ruins the flow for me, I just hate it. My friend is so impatient... but I gotta do what he asks of me sometimes, sometimes. Hahahaa.

Looking forward to fixing, stiffer spring, etc. I have a few ideas that have worked in the past. But it is driving me crazy...

My friend now understands when I tell him to slow down and take deep breaths.

Great looking car really dig the black frame.

  30. I agree... needs a hair more rake. Not much though, I feel.

Switched out the spring yesterday...gained a 1/2 inch. Gonna get another half out of it with a leaf added to bottom of spring pack to stiffen it as well. Problem should be solved.

This car was built on a small budget. In fact, the owner showed up here asking for a _ _ _ rod. I told him, this is what he gets...

So a few parts of the build like windows, heat, and some small finishing touches were to be add on's in the end. Car actually was not even supposed to be painted. I wound up throwing in the paint, wet sand/buff, and windows in the end for free, just to produce a nicer car.

Many of the cars that come out of here often don't get paint do to the budget, but I felt I had to do something all the way regardless.
Most old guys around here were skeptical of my garage and even told this guy to be careful. All they see... is primer and unfinished cars running around. I don't always get to my own personal cars while working on others. All of those guys now understand how I really like them and have given me a second chance. These guys also have 300G cars and think my 32 roadster is junk cause it's not shiny(yet).

I tried to explain that "simple" stays in style, I had to fight the owner the whole way. He loves this car... so I'm happy. It is a little more street roddy then I personaly like, but tasteful enough.
