I was noticing all of the HAMBer events around the nation and was curious if the large car scene in Boise, ID and surroundings had any HAMBers on other than myself? If so, I would like to consider coming together with a few and meet ya'll (yes I lived in TX for a spell)
I don't know of anything in my direction (eastern OR) but I'd show for some kind of get together in the greater Boise area if someone picks a spot. -Joel
I'm planning a trip in June to Salmon, Idaho then on over to Sand Hallow, ID so if you guys do a meet and greet somewhere around Nampa or Caldwell and I'm in town I'll be there (former resident of Nampa and Caldwell).
I will set something up, definitely! I am in Meridian, so we can set something up in June. I will be out of town the 13th-16th of June, but the rest of June I am good. Hopefully my 65 Chevy PU will be able to roll around by then as well. We could hookup a BBQ, or some other eat-n-greet. The wife and I head to Firebird quite often as well, else we are at the circle in Meridian. BTW, first of June is the big swap in Emmitt. Let me know if you have ideas of places to meat up.
Hey blasted a mate and I will be there from Australia, so if you see a couple of dumb Aussies walking around say G'day and maybe we can have a few beers together when the racings over.
There's several of us from the Ogden area going to Boise for the Oldies Drags. We're staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in Eagle. We'll look for your sedan in the pits. Mick
I graduated from Caldwell High, but haven't lived in the area for 25 years. I read every post that mentions the area expecting to find an old friend, and it hasn't happened yet. My brother is a HAMBer too, but he doesn't live there any more either.
I know this is late but i just moved to Nampa and was pretty disappointed at by the few clubs I could find. I'd like to get involved locally too. Kinda late in the year to do lot but organizing a good club over the winter might be nice. -Panelrodder
I thinks maybe we should try and get something pulled together, even if it isn't necessarily about starting a club. Let me know what you think!
I would really like to get involved with the scene, whatever condition it is in, locally; so, yea that would be good. My brotherInLaw and I have talked at lenght about doing something. He was born and raised in the area and he still hasn't found anything he wants to be involved with... he is more muscle car than HAMB material but whatever, it has four wheels and an engine thats good enough for me. Do you have any ideas?
I realize that this is late (which seems odd because I'm on here all of the time) I live in boise and also have a '36 chevy truck. Let me know if you come up with anything club style or otherwise. Send me a pic of your truck or a pm sometime.
We've got a club in Twin Falls, ID. Six of us total all period correct late 40's and early 50's hot rods.
I'm down with a lot but I'm not sure a regular drive to Twin is in the cards! Plus, I doubt my panel truck is anyware never period correct to be part of a club like that though if you guys get together I would like to come down sometime and take a look at what you've got! I for sure appreciate what you guys do but I like IFS and AC to much! My panel is more of a street rod.... although there are so many titles for these projects I'm not sure of the definitions. The group I had in mind really had nothing to do with the vintage or style of the cars... just that they were cool and you want to be around people with an appreciation and love of them. (There would probably be an age associated, I think that 73 is the average year.) I don't want a group that exists simply to hold an annual show. I'd rather a group that meets to work on a project, help solve other members problems, maybe does a couple show-n-shines at a burger joint (maybe even monthly) Meets to drive to shows or just to drive somewere. That is what I had in mind. Actually, it wouldn't even have to have an organization, president - vp- etc. Just a loose affiliation with a general vote for approval of crap to happen. Thoughts? -Panelrodder
For good information on car related stuff, go to www.usri.org This is Idaho's collector car lobbying assoc. For a five spot a year you can join up and get their yearly schedule of events booklet for the entire state. Lots of clubs and events to contact.
You also might try the web page of RPM productions. They sponsor a few of the larger activities around town. http://www.rpmprod.com/ Second on the USRI org, the calendar by itself is worth the 5 spot.
