HC...my chick is the same color this week. And yes I have the same vulgar humor...

Saw the "Rides" show...I liked it, shoulda taped it. They didn't have anything stupid on there, nothing really turned me off. Props to the Choppers for building a cool T...of course they're pockets are deeper and their tools are nicer than mine...but I'll show them...one day. j/k

The only thing that bothered me was the old guy saying "see" after every other sentence. That just annoyed me. [IMG] Plus he's a prick for saying he had the first "rat rod" he can kiss my ass...my grandpa had a rod in the 50's, not in 1981.

That and him going out on a limb and postulating that everything sprouted from his own hotrodding..

(the attitude I mentioned earlier today that people seemingly tend to focus on their own experience and act as if the history of their hobby started the day they got into it)

Pretty cool show though, the voiceover stuff blows, as it does on ALL of the Discovery, TLC shows...

Their engine magically rebuilt/replaced itself, and their traditional nickel and dime project probably cost more than my daily driver by the time they were done [IMG]

I dont think they know much about period correct as none of those guys where around in the 50's and if they where they would know that only the finished cars where at the shows. Look in the old car magazines and in some old books. Also they didn't have mig welders back then nor did anyone who was smart ever torch an effin steering box that is if you wanted it to last. Also they used lead .. so if those guys wanted to be real and really period correct use the right stuff and they didn't have square stock then either from what im told. They talk all this trash about nice cars where someone may have actually done alot of hard work to there car and want it to be safe and reliable.. not crazy and a death trap. I'm all for the traditional look but if your gonna say your period correct and talk all sorts of trash about other people i just dont think thats something the hobby should be representing myself. ... just my 2 cents.

Hey!! it's not period correct to use NEW air in the tires! [IMG]

    An outstanding program.

One of my favorite parts was "the Real Magilla" bit.

I just got in & found this thread, rushed to my remote, 1AM airing of Rides started 10 minutes ago, hope I didn't miss much.

That was the best show I've ever seen on tv as far as car programs are concerned.

I would kill for a half dozen like-minded guys or gals to hang out with here in Dayton.

I'll still worship Robert Williams' art, although I'll consider him an arrogant dipshit, see?!

Jack Daniels is a fine compliment to 2AM ramblings .... WWS

Just caught the show on the 1am rebroadcast.

    I loved it.

As others said, none of the dumb drama that makes me run for the hills at the mention of the "other" shows. And I really appreciated the palpable effort to kill the term "rat rod".

Weesner's got real talent and those Choppers screw together some of my favorite cars.

I am busting my hump trying to get my garage together to move all my parts to ONE place so that I can actually build something. That show was great inspiration. It would also be a good primer (no pun intended) for some friends who don't quite understand yet.

I think they screwed us all though. Now the goldchainers are gonna want something for the "junk" engines they have yanked from their street rod projects to make room for that zls6 quick burn tuned port crate 350.

[IMG] Most Goldchainers don't want to hassle with selling the old parts, That's too common, like having a Sunday yardsale. It's the guys building the cars that are going to jack us on the price of good used parts.

After all they're the ones removing them at the Goldchainers command. So get in good with your local billet rod builder.

It was the best Rides to date with out a doubt. KK

i got that gray baskerville came up with the term 'rat rod' according to robert williams, if that is the case, long live 'rat rods'. if baskerville had called them POO RODS, so be it.and as for the rambling by KUSTOM01, consider the source, he spells custom with a K.
    love & respect,

I liked it. I thought there was some usefull information on it.

Being only 26 and not having any famliy into Rods (not even cousins or uncles) I dont really have a chance to learn the history of it, well except books but moving things are better [IMG]

I knew I wanted to build a traditional Rod before that show but watching that T in action I'm really sold on it!

The other rides episode Ive seen was with priestly, and I couldnt stand his narration..... sounded like one of those old sex ed films...

I also hated the commercials every 6 minutes or so....

    Hankcash, thank you.
