My kind of hybrid car.

Here's what I worked on this week. My American/Italian hybrid.

This was done as a suggestion for a build that's about to begin.
59 T-Birds were known as the "square birds". They are mostly
known by that, less than flattering, moniker because of their
angular roof and overall view from above. BUT, like an iceberg
there's 90% that you don't get to see. I wanted to cut about 10%
of that away to reveal some really attractive elements.
First the roof goes away. Then I narrowed the grill area to reveal
the front wheels in a roadsterish fashion. I radiused the rear wheels,
dechromed it dropped it down low and tried to give it an Italian
sports car treatment.

Here's the Tuono Ucello... Italian for Thunderbird.

Another coffee break drawing.

It's a drawing of a model I built in 1968. I still have that model!

Bic pen on plain white paper.

10. This one is special to me. I found this treasure while prowling through my own storage last weekend. I thought it was lost.

YEARS ago, I had a polaroid of an old car my dad and I found on a back road in New Mexico.
I was young and we never went back for the car but I had the photo. (it's not a duece, it's a Studebaker).

My grandma was getting up there in years but she still painted a miniature once in awhile.
She got ahold of that photo and painted this for me in oil. I suspect it was a birthday gift.

Grandma's gone now, dad too... I've lost the photo and thought the painting was long gone.
Damn I was thrilled to find it. Now I don't have to work so hard to remember.

21. Fatt Stripe, thanks for getting us going. Nice work

Lockwood, I like the idea of using the '61-'62 Cadillac rear quarters. I'd messed around with that myself. That concept you have going is cool.

Gary, The Bird is the WORD BROTHA! I figure thats Charlie's car, eh?
That sketch is speakin' to me as well. Love the weight and volume you got out of
that scribble.

40pu, nice twist on the theme. Love the renderings.

Pacheco, dig the rig! That pick-up looks great.

Eric,... another Black beauty. Love those Fords and you made that one irresistible.

22. GaryC. : I really like the "Italian" T-bird Gary!
Pacheco : Very nice again Gabe.
Blackie : Stunning!
CougarDan : That's a real gem.
FortyPickup : That's just awesome Neal; a "bubbletop" like that makes perfect sense: No more lack of headroom!

Got nothing "on topic" this week that I can show yet but I'd like to contribute anyway:
