I did something I have never done before. I not only bought a car already finished, but I bought it sight unseen. HAMBer old farts and old fords had seen the car at a local cruise night and told me it was nice. In spite of that recommendation I was still a little uneasy ....until I saw it. It was just as described. It's got a 283/350 with an 8" ford rearend. A fatman front clip with mustang II and a power rack make it a great driver. All I need now is some pinstriping. [IMG]

Looks pretty damn nice to me. I am thinking of buying a car based off a small jpeg and a fellow HAMBers thumbs up. Perhaps it's time to put trust to the test. Looks like it worked out good for you. Congrats.

Very nice ride. Gloss black gives it that sophisticated look. [IMG]

I bought my current ride the same way. But I did have lengthy phone conversations with the owner and looked at lots of pics. He was obviously an honest guy trying to sell his car to someone who he seemed to jive with. We got along really well and that pretty much sold me.

Bring that shoebox to the Cheaters show in Milwaukee on the 21st. Good to have some Michigan boys there. From one shoebox owner to another that is a pretty kick ass example of ford tech.
p.s. loose the lake pipes [IMG]
but who gives a shit what I think

  12. Looks nice! Take it to the Broken Dream Kruise, in Detroit, on the 15th and have Jeff Shea or Safarinut throw some striping on it!

    Guys,
It will be at BDC for sure and hopefully get some stripes laid on it there.
    Craig,
I do like your photoshop idea. My next ride is definately gonna be a more radical custom. [IMG]
    Brett,
I really like the color tour idea. I already promised my wife a fall weekend up north in it.

  25. Looks real good. But just a thought about adding of pinstriping... Striping seems to be a "must" today? Why? I dont know, because in many cases cars looks better without striping....

I hear ya petejoe. Man I love those flames. 39sled is havin fun in that ride now. I sent the 37 from Michigan to the left coast and brought the shoebox back from the left coast to Michigan.

I don't know if I can resist the urge to scallop or flame the shoebox....... Probably not [IMG]

STOP IT, you guys falling all over yourselves complimenting Rich on his new ride. What about me? I don't see a thing I can do on it to relieve him of some of his retirement fund. I've been able to get in his wallet with every car he's owned in the last 5 years, now this thing shows up and puts a crimp in my plans. [IMG] [IMG] Maybe I can get the job of removing the lakes pipes. That should be worth at least $1500, don't you think?
Seriously, I rode in it the first full day he owned it and it's a sweet road car, a keeper in my book.

You know RPW I agree with you. There are a lot of cars today that definitely look better without striping or flames or whatever.I have told several people who approached me to have work done exactly that. Some of them looked at me like I had just grown another head while others complimented me on my honesty.
If I think a car won't benefit from striping(or the owner is unsure)I won't stripe it.
If Rich's car had all the stock trim on it,I would agree that it could got without striping if desired, but where the trim has been removed I would think some small striping on the hood and deck would be beneficial.I would probably keep it a single color(maybe to match the wheels or interior)and relatively small.Just my opinion.
