Almost exactly what I'm lookin' to build... Just need to find an A sedan in my price range...

  4. Ahhh, my computer sucks. I gotta run too.

Original 32 frame, flattend 40 rear cross member, with 32 ends. Model A front cross member, frame pinched, F-1 center cross member and pedals. T-5 trans, boxed frame.

Owner wanted the flattie look, but with a little more gusto. T-5 and 411 gears work nice. Car has a lot of pep, smokes tires in three gears.

I love the color. Isn't that an original "chicle" color. What kind of wheels are they.

  6. Great looking hot rod , like the clean lines simple to the point!

  7. Man..there was nothing that cool running around Ft. Monmouth when I was stationed there in '64. Great C-dan...now drive the wheels off it.

  10. Looks like the pic problem is solved. Couple more.

  11. I originally was going to use this frame for my 32. I was setting up two chassis, one low, one tall. That really was not a good idea with the cars I own already, and the little room I have to store them.

So when the opt. came to build a car for someone, I had all the parts I needed. I had already pancaked a 40 rear crossmember center, and then spliced it into the 32 ends. Did all that with the body over my head. Gets them down pretty low, and still looks kinda factory.

K-member got saved for a future project as we used a T-5 in the sedan. F-1 truck crossmembers fit so nice in 32 frames. Worked real well with the T-5 too.

I truly enjoy looking at that car. It doesnt need the rear tires hovering above the roof or the rockers on the ground for attention, its just perfect.

Hi , do you have detail shots of F-1 Crossmember and T-5 ??

    Thanks
    Michael

  17. Only these small pieces were added to the F-1 member, fit like a glove. Pedal assembly worked real nice too. I only added a right angle to the middle of crossmember to mount the T-5. Done.

I had bought the F-1 for an A frame, but this worked so nice with the 32 frame and T-5. Plus I get to keep the K-member for one of my personal builds.

This app. worked perfect for the customer, not really my style. But the all together package worked out real nice. This car flies, runs straight, and a real solid ride.

I think I made up my mind that I'll never build anything not on a 32 frame that week. The end result is just so clean and gives a basic "A" body so much class and flow.

Then again, I really like the look of bare bone stuff way too much. I change my mind like my underwear, every two or three days.

  18. DD, I agree on the 32 comment. A's just look right on 32 frames. A rare thing (Silvas/Docs car) to have one look right on the stock frame.

Well, well, an A Tudor that isn't over chopped, over channeled, the top of the grille isn't higher than the cowl.....what a nice looking car.

Some of the crap posted on this board lately when I comes to A Tudors is pretty bad...and they get rave reviews - the scarier part. There is one in particular...has a blown SBC that looks like it belongs in a '77 Camaro, ass dragging the ground stance, all kinds of goofy bolt on shit...

    Nice car man.

  22. Man....thank you, everyone!

This car was fun to build...went together so fast.

    Neat story.

This is the 1st hot rod I ever bought (stock A), also the 1st car I ever chopped. I bought this car out of Ohio. I still have the newspaper clipping somewhere, found it in the Special Interest paper. I had just sold off an old WW2 bike and wanted to get into cars. Got this car home, and sold off what I thought I didn't need (1st big mistakes) then I chopped the roof. I then got bored and decided that sedans were for family's and sold it off.
The guy that bought it, stored it in his garage for 7 or 8 years without touching it. I convinced the new owner to buy it back this year. We set out to build a coupe originally, but then came up short. I had also just built a coupe, so I was in the mood for something else and talked the customer into this sedan. So me and this body have some history. I would have liked to own it, but it is in safe hands where I can keep an eye on it anyway.

Oh, right after we bought the sedan back, I found a barn with two coupes in it. Of course!

The grill insert came from Steve Coonan himself. I had basically everything to build it but the chopped shell. Just so happens that Steve had an old original chopped insert he wasn't using and sent us this one. So a Vintique shell was chopped to fit it.

I believe this was my only down time on the car. Steve was hauling that 32 around at the time, and I had to wait till he got home to send it. Thanks again!

The coupe before this sedan was built here, but the chop was done before I got it. It has a terrible chop, looks good, but nothing lines up. I hate that. Chopping an A is so much fun, and easy. No reason to not take your time and need zero filler. I believe I just sold the car, and they like it's imperfect chop. So all is good!

So it was really cool to have the 1st car I ever bought and chopped back home again. She also lives local, so I get to run her around as well.

Thanks for all the nice compliments.

DD, What wheels and tire size are you running on it. Also what headlights are those. The A looks very nice.

  27. Not sure what these headlights are... but I may sell them. Too small for me.

  28. UPDATE: Ok, so owner got jammed up with money and decided he did'nt like sedans...
I happend to have a sweet little 29 RPU I bought to fix and flip. Owner of the sedan decided he wanted to trade with a little money, so I'm back into my my 1st body again. Pretty neat.

He is super happy with the p/u.... just tweaking things that were never finished. It was almost complete... needed a little more attention.

So I have been ripping around in the Sedan.... car flies. Now I just wanna change a few things that the old owner made me do... basically got my way, but he got involved a little. Those things I'm going to fix.

It's getting bigger headlights, BLC's, 32 headlite bar, going to replace the new speed equipt. with some more rare stuff... no off the shelf. Drive the hell out of it.

    OH........ NOTE: FIRESTONE tires suck!
Someone needs to take some doe and fix those molds.... It's just dangerous!

Here is a pic of the P/U I traded him... Dave Martinez put a sick Oxblood interior in too.
    Love Dave!

  29. Ok, so the real reason I brought this post back is...

I may be looking to put a 29 roadster on this chassis. May keep my old body... but I really miss my old 29 roadster and just might trade.

Sometime after summer, I may wanna do a trade as I'm enjoying myself now... But I know me, and I'm almost over it with a roof over my head.

I know... roadster for sedan??? Who knows... we always have different wants.

So I'm open for trades... I'll trade down for a body that needs work for this nicely painted, chopped, roof coverd car... for a 28/29 or maybe even a 30. Doubt the 30.... as I have a 32 roadster... bu you just can't have enough roadsters in my mind. I also own two coupes, don't want three really(sedan).

Pm me or post a pic of a body... has to be Ford.... Pheaton's too!

I will also piece a car together if you have most of the parts...
