Anybody know of anything good going on the Fri and Sat nights? Anybody know if they still have that deal in the big parking lot up there on the north end of the A1A strip? I forget what its called, Bel-Aire Plaza maybe??
Hell, you can go to ***ty bars anywhere. Hit A1A at about Main Street and drive North. You should find a large selection of rodders crawling the streets. We have always kind of hung out at Bel Aire Plaza in North Daytona. In the past few years, the cops have really cracked down on everyone, but are still pretty cool as long as you aren't getting too crazy. I run my headers open, and they haven't said a thing so far. They have stopped the burnouts tho, which ****s. Used to be folks would line the streets from About Broadway, North, and they would fill the hotel ice buckets with water and lay it down in the streets! We would all stop and do some smokey burnouts much to the delight of the crowd! Now the bike cops sit on the yellow line in many places in the center of the road, just waiting for you to pull some ****! About 8 yrs. ago I say an blown alcohol Camaro do a wheelstand on A1A that was about 6 ft. up! All I saw at first were his headlights go up into the night sky! I was blown away! All these things come to p***....... Of course, there was a time almost 30 yrs. ago, when I was a young man, when we gave away keg after keg of beer at the LaPlaya hotel across from Bel Aire. Hell, we even gave away the pitchers and mugs to put it in! The cops also let everyone do burnouts for about 50 ft. in front of that place. I will say, you ****ers from North Carolina still hold the record for guzzling pitchers as fast as I could pour them!! AND NO, THE PINK PONY IS HISTORY. THEY HAVE CRACKED DOWN ON ALL **** BARS. LOLLIPOPS IS STILL THERE THO!
No sir Skip, but I think I'll be at the Draglink's benefit, I need a new Chinaman and they are having a Chinese auction.
If the folks that attended the Dream Cruise are at the Turkey Run they may head back to "Down the Hatch" in Ponce Inlet who hosted a soc hop during the Dream Cruise, everyone had a good time there, and if not the food was good at least.
Holy **** she was there 2 years ago!!!that is funny i thought we were seeing things but i guess its true.we call her "chicken wing"..
I have often wished that we could get some kind of half-***, half- drunken compe***ion eliminator going at that little amu*****t park with the small block chevy powered dragsters on the fri or sat night. You know the one thats right across the street from the speedway? I love those things.
I think you need to sort this thread - by age group. A sock hop at Down the Hatch? Really?? Maybe for the cl*** of '58...
You got that right.....Wrong crowd......LOL. Sheesh. I don't think anyone does hops around here during that week, except maybe at the Speedway itself, was has pretty much been a flop. Last time I was out there at night, they had the "slow drags". Good Lord, how aweful was that? They had a flamethrower contest that had two entries too, and the biggest flame was every bit of 6 inches long! Hit A1A and look for some action at Bel Aire Plaza. Wether they are trying to run us off from there or not, everyone still goes up there......
I remember one TRR saturday night, maybe 4 yrs ago, we were staying at some beachside hotel on A1A, not far from Main. Everyone was just hanging out on the sidewalk watching the cars go by, and there was this group of drunken college girls who would flash thier ***ties whenever a car would stop and do a burnout. This went on for like 2 hours without any cop intervention. At one point someone actually pulled a water hose out from the hotel and wet the street down. Great fun!
