I dig the look of the car, so it really isn't a BFD. (even if the cage resembles it. ;) )

WOW!!! your car certainly will draw a lot of attention, very nice. More pics of the front suspension? what steering are you going to use? going to be hand full.

Seems very affordable for a Wed./Sat. nite car too.

  3. I'll race ya...! It was a long 650 mile drive down there in my Roadster and the last thunderstorm was "SCAREY" but well worth it when I was able to knock off a few runs!

New rules... car must be driven at least 650 miles to the event and another 100 cruising around Joplin...! Hahaha...

  4. It all really depends on how much power you're putting out. With anywhere between 400 and 500hp that thing is going to run mid 10's or better. Your 60ft times should be in the 1.50's at the worst... and low 1.40's if it's working.

My second concern would be the fact that the front bars are in single sheer. That little brace helps out a little, but it doesn't qualify as a true double sheer joint because it just transfers the load to the other bolt.

Lastly I think the rod ends will work for a while... but at the least they should be updated with some sold "race" style ends for safety.

After looking at it again... you could make a bracket that would give you cake and let you eat it too. Simply make a bracket that gives you some adjustment of the upper bar (allowing you to mount the front of it downward) AND put both front joints in double sheer. You may even be able to find a bracket... but the bar spacing would have to be the same as yours, so just making one would be the best. Kinda like this: http://www.markwilliams.com/detail.aspx?ID=1526

I don't mean to be a pest or sound like an a-hole... I'm just trying to help with some advice.

I would rather put advice about making a friend's car go fast and be safe above trying to make them feel all warm and fuzzy. :D

Besides, you're building a cool *** car, doing it yourself, and you're gonna have loads of fun! (how's that for warm and fuzzy?)

Thanks Sam for the help, I may look into the Mark Williams bracket deal.

Looks good there Mr. Mac! Looks like it could only be a motor and tires away from a legal HA/GR car too! :D
