I realize that this would be a ton of work, but it is what I would do....

  6. My mom had a green one just like it. It was an embarr***ing boat back then, but today it's a very cool car! I wouldn't do much more than shave off the emblems and stay with subtle changes. Make that nailhead look pretty, too.

  7. Many refer to those cars as 'boats'. Well, this guy made his '59 buick a real boat. Used to get to the US from Cuba a few years back. I think the coast guard stopped him but, you gotta' give this guy some credit for building this and putting it out in the ocean. That takes real balls to attemp that. Probably the wildest and most creative '59 Buick of all time.

Re-aligning the rear bumper and snugging the Belmonts to the body will do wonders (obviously).

If you're up for a re-paint, shave the door handles; and tunnel twin antennae into a quarter panel and extending through two holes in the fin.
A flaked roof would be right at home.

We used to refer to them as aircraft carriers because of the "flat top":D.

Please don't put any "brokes" on it.

Rusty steel wheels w/no hubcaps and missing lug nuts would look better.

Hey great car looks good just as it is. Have a question what and /or where did pipes like you have originate? Also why do so many cars of this type have flaked roofs?

That is a sweet car. It doesn't need Tru-spokes (you are talking about the old wire-wheels here aren't you) and it darn sure doesn't need those goofy chrome pipes hanging down the rear quarters.
All it needs to be is clean, straight, and on the road as often as possible. Gas is cheap now, take advantage of it.

My dad swapped our '54 Hudson Hornet Twin-H tudor for a '59 LeSabre tudor in the most gawd-awful flat medium green. I hated that thing when I was a kid but would really like to find a '59 Buick wagon. There doesn't seem to be many 59's around, really a unique look. I'm not a fordor hdtp fan but other than restrained lowering and a nose and deck job I'd leave it alone.
I just noticed the pipes, eeewwww! To each his own.
