I believe you are refering to X-sonic here on the show circuit not a chicago area car. if you do a search I believe there are several posts about it

It has a street gear in it now, when we put a racing gear in it i would be happy to see it in the 12's or 13's. not looking to blow the doors off of anyone, just have fun with it. you know.

Yes you are correct. That was the car I saw cruising around. It was so cool. Man that show really got me stoked! It really cemented the car junkie in me that had been nurtured by my older cuz.

  7. Sounds exciting, WoW has been lacking for the last 6-7 years and has not really had a real vision.

    Sending a pm.

Is it possible to have my vendor location inside your special area?

If so I will talk to Ashton this weekend.

Since I do sell all the old Rat Fink merchandise I think it would be a natural fit.........

What hotel would you guys recommend? Something near the center within walking distance...

    Thanks!

  10. ChevyGirlRox & anyone else, the McCormick Place Hyatt adjacent to the new McCormick Place West would be the most logical. A nice walk totally inside to McCormick Place East where the WoW is usually held.

Good prices on rooms can be had online.

This is shaping up to be a very great show! You can already feel the buzz in the air. On top of that and the Chicago Brushmasters 2nd Annual charity art auction, this should be the start of some great, new history...

I think the Hyatt is the one with discounts if you mention that you're going to the WoW. I'm getting the information to post.

Check this out. This Model A truck belongs to the uncle of a friend of ours and it looks like it will be at the show. It's untouched. Look at the magazine article from when it was in the show originally! So *****in...

    Cool photo Chad!

Pat Finley is one of the founding-fathers of the Chicago BrushMasters.

He helped his Dad build this truck and we've been after him to bring it to the Pile-Up for the last three years but it doesn't run - we even tried to convince him to enter it as an exhibit. The truck is untouched, but was in several feet of water a few years back and he's finally getting it rolling once again, he's had some trans and rear-end problems.

I doubt his "special area" is that accommodating.:)

This is going to be a killer deal... and I'm looking forward to going to the WoW once again!

How do I go about signing up....

I'd really like to bring my roadster. I know it was at the show in 63, and I would ***ume it was probably there in 62. It was originally built in the chicago area sometime in the mid fifties, but it's history before 1962 is a mystery to me. It'd be interesting to see if any of the old timers from the area remember it. It's completely original to how it was in 62 too...

Johnny, Is it true that car still has 1962 air in the tires? :D I look forward to seeing the car in person.

  20. I've been hearing about Pat Finley's truck for a few years and I'm sure glad to see these pics. I'm real glad to to know I'll see it at the Chicago WoW this January.

Like Larry said, Pat is a founding member of the "Chicago Brushmasters" event at the Chicago Wow. He's also a legendary sign painter and race car letterer from the Chicagoland area for eons. He lettered many, many of the drag cars running at Oswego and stockcars at Rockford Speedway. He also lettered all the Mark Martin #2 Dillion prepared ASA cars in the very early '80's. He tells many a good tales of lettering Grand National stockcars during Speedweeks in the '60's. Got to do all the greats from that era.

I talked to Pat about these pics. He's 19 years old when he built this truck in this photo and showed it back then. A real OG survivor nowadays!

Here's Pat today. He's a friend, mentor and great human being...

Stop by at the show, he'll tell ya alot about early hotrodding in the Midwest!

Everyone, if we've sent you a form for the show, please fill it out and get it back to us as soon as possible.

If you know of a car that should be in the show, please get a hold of us so we can set it up!!!

this needs to go back to the top. Does anybody know if the show is helping with expenses and to what extent? Deaner Probst, owner of Lil' Dough is an old duffer without a lot of bucks and he needs $$ to make an appearance. He will have to hire somebody to haul his car and will need a couple of nights lodging and food expense. If you don't know his car, I posted pics earlier in this thread. It is also a the cover car for Mad Fabricators 5 if you are familiar. PM me if you have ideas and let's do what we can to get this cool old hotrod back to where it was shown 47 years ago.

The show does pay for mileage, one way. I'll have to ask about a room. Meals I'll ask about too, but I'm guessing what that answer is.

i saw the ad for the show in trk. it sounds awesome kevin. the year we put up the display was definately the best wow show in quite a few years. i didnt get to go to last years as i was in wyoming. my brother and the guys from ogden top and trim said it was not anywhere near what it was the year prior. make us proud! THERE'S ONLY SO MANY TIMES YOU CAN LOOK AT THE SAME CAMAROS, NOVAS, CORVETTES AND MINI TRUCKS THAT ARE THERE EVERY YEAR.

If could be convinced to haul Lil' Dough to the event if others could help with his lodging, etc. Of course we would still have to convince the ornery old **** to go!
