just wanted to say hi to everyone, i've been away for what seems like forever. just got back tonight from a rather uneventful at sea period. few things of interest while i was out. about a week out skipper says "we are going to have a racing legend aboard today to sign autographs and chat with the crew." so who flys out to the ship, but Richard Petty! Finally someone i wouldnt mind seeing visits the ship! got to chat with him for a bit and had him sign my issue of garage #16 (will be put up in a HAMB auction soon) turns out this was his first time on a navy ship and he was thrilled to be there! or maybe he was thrilled he got to leave at the end of the day!!! haha, anyway just wanted to say i'm back, and i'm grateful for the things i have in life. good times and good friends.

heres a pic of my dumbass with mr petty and a shot of an "at sea" sunrise!

Welcome back to the world and please accept my feeble attempt at thanking you for your service, sacrifice, and the sacrifices your family makes for you to keep us safe and secure.

Welcome back. Meeting Richard Petty would be cool. Do you get internet access while you are at sea?
One of my nephews just signed up to go in the Navy. I would assume he will become familiar to the sea duty thing.

we get internet access to an extent. there are certian times allotted to do certain things online. microsoft outlook is our email program and also the lifeline! as far as real internet, like HAMB forget it. maybe if youre lucky you might be able to check your bank account. outlook is up about 90% of the time your nephew will learn to love it for communicating to family and friends. best of luck to him, and your family!

oh man i bet things were alot different then!!! haha, catherine bach would have been the best thing ever to come to the ship! i am a structure mechanic for the aircraft onboard. the pic is fuzzy, i'm a second class. my job ranges from aluminum skin repairs to composite skin and honeycomb repairs. we are the metal/composite/weld shop all in one and it's truely like a playground!

thanks to all of you for the kind words and the support.

Neat deal. Did Petty come and go on a COD? Bet that was better than 200 mph in some old mopar!

Congrats on a safe deployment and welcome back home.

Welcome back!!! Thanks for all you do.

I recall taking guys like Richard Petty out the the boats when I was a COD Aircrewman in VR-30......no matter how fast their race car was, that ride in a COD was something they remembered.
