Tonight a good friend, fellow HAMBer and pinstriper stopped by to pull the line's on my truck...outlining the flames i just did last week.... All i can say is unreal! Everytime i watch him do this i'm just amazed! Seriously, this is a true art in every sense and i admire all you guy's who can stripe..and make it look so damn easy!! Paul 'Von' Straus as he's known around here finished up my flame work with some real clean white lines.. I LOVE stripe work and would have let him have his way on this as i have on everything else he's done for me....but we both felt that less is more so the only other area he laid the horse hair to was the tail gate and a little under the hood.. Just enough.. So, i wanted to post up a few pics for those that asked or had seen the other post's i did on the flames........and also thanks Paul for once again making the hour trip and doing a GREAT job!! Thanks man!!! Without further nonsense.......pics. finally with my digital camera instead of my cell phone Tony
Wow, great finished product-good job! I have also always admired guys that can stripe too. I'd love to be able to do that, I just know that I'd get really frustrated quickly though Dan
real nice job on the flames and striping. It is along way around those flames. If you staightend out the lines it would probably go the length of your garage. I agree less is more and Paul your striping is top notch.
Looks great! There's am old saying in the striping world and I'm sure you well aware of it. It goes like this, 'it ain't done 'til it's pinstriped.' I'll bet you though the truck looked good before and you think it looks great now. And you'd be right.
Thanks guy's....but the praise go's to Paul for his slick work... I'm going to copy this and forward it to him so he can read what you guy's said.. He's a member here as i said, but has little time to check on here... And the saying about it aint done til it's striped...so true.. Thanks again! Tony
The base is the pretty basic (read cheap) Value pro single stage black urethane with flattening agent added to make it satin..nothing special.. I wanted a paint with a catalyst for sealing purposes and also durability. HOWEVER, if i was to do it over again, i would not use the cheap paint....PERIOD! I would have stuck with ICI products as i have on everything else i build..Better quality all around.. That's what the flames are. I went with the VP because i figured this will probably be painted gloss black sometime in the next few years.. Thanks guy's. Tony
Thanks guy's.. Tomorrow i now have to pull the trans out..seem's something just isn't right there and tonight it introduced itself to me...in a big cloud of smoke. One step forward 5 back.........seem's to be the way with this one.
When I first read this thread I though to myself, ...................OH BOY.................More flames.... And it looked OK ,when you first finished the red........ I though Nice ,turned out better than I expected .....Not To much...Not over the top.......... Then You LET Von Straus, Do his little tricks........AND................. ........................MAN.................HOW NICE IS THAT !!!!! Turned out SWEET ,You can be proud of that ,for sure....Good Job.... LOOKS GREAT................................
